Denver: The Miami of the West?

    Just like everybody is saying, Denver is a pretty #### dead area. Two months ago market in Denver was ok for 200-300 mile hops As well as multiple delivery loads. Usually as the weather gets nicer the monkey drivers feel safer going through mountains and weather prone areas, causing the rates be so cheap.

    Denver has always been the same as Miami in that the rate going in better cover you deadheading out or taking $1 a mile out because that'll be your choices.

    No point in waiting around Colorado hoping for a decent load, it ain't coming.

    Even if it did there'd be an infinite amount of people calling in on it within a couple seconds of posting.

    Denver has been a dead zone for a long long time. Never go unless you get paid to leave on that same load. Water to UT is okay sometimes but not much other than beer.

    Every load I’ve taken into the Denver area so far, I’ve deadheaded about 400 miles out of there.

    At the last company I was leased to we had regular loads going there that paid almost round trip rate. Sometimes I’d just bounce home to NE and then bounce over to IA for a customer load when I’d leave the house. Or if I wasn’t taking hometime I’d bounce out of Denver back to some of our customer loads in KS.

    Then we ended up with a dedicated drop and hook run out of Denver and that round was gravy.

    That's normal for Denver.
    Rather blow a day deadheading out rather than tying up truck for multiple days hauling for $1 a mile.

    That's even if you can get that $1 a mile lol.

    If you’ve got a place to stay and park the truck free of charge and without the worry of it being messed with in Denver, it could be worth it to camp there and fish for better loads. However, trying to boost your rate per mile will come at the expense of revenue per day. 2-3 days would put you loaded in KC/St Louis headed east vs still sitting in Denver. Just something to think about.

    Search out 500 miles deadhead, youll be happier with your rate

    Ive gotten "decent" runs out of colorado springs before, but that was flatbed, my brother had a conestoga and did a 3 pick for 3 drops ltl beginning from denver itself ONCE, but took some doing and when factoring the wasted time, should have just deadheaded out of there
