    My Freightliner Intel...

Truck Country Freightliner of DeForest Wisconsin near Madison.

    4 out of 5 stars.

I ended up here accidentally. I was just test driving my truck near Chicago on 90 and went into 5 mph derate. I couldn't turn around and go back to Chicago because if I dropped below 5 miles per hour then I would be stuck there calling for a tow truck. So I kept driving down the highway, praying for no traffic jams, until I ended up all the way up there. Kinda like that 90's movie with the bus and Keanu Reeves, lol.

They get four stars because they actually started working on my truck right away, and kept working on it until everything was done. There were almost always guys near the truck poking around at it.

They are also honest, the job turned out to be less than the estimate. On top of that, the day after I left they called me because they realized that they forgot to credit me the DPF core charge. So they refunded me another grand. They totally could have gotten away with it, but they reached out and refunded me.

Also they are dog friendly, totally didn't mind Tommy hanging out in the lounge with me or even waiting in the truck while they work on it.

They lose a star for wasting a day and $1,000+ in Diagnostics before just deciding to change the Box. Also, they are quite rude about keeping you out of the shop area. I understand liability and insurance but no need to be a jerk about it. Some of the cute small Freightliners just let you hang out in the cab while they work on the truck, not this place.

Anyway, good Freightliner. I would recommend this place.

change injectors at 800k. At 900k change the fuel pump and air compressor. the turbo will go 1m m. Between 750k-850k m oil cooler's o rings start leaking and oil goes into coolant. All DD15 have this issue. Find time to replace o-rings. Also around 850k m breather starts leaking.

Did you change the injectors yourself? I’m guessing you changed all of them?

My air compressor is leaking oil, and I’m thinking about just replacing the entire air compressor and not just the seals. My truck mileage is close to 800k.

I have changed injectors, fuel pump, air compressor on my truck myself. Changing injectors is easy but DL needed to enter injector codes. Changing fuel pump and air compressor is complicated but I can help you if you want to do it yourself. Put new air compressor and fuel pump if you have 800k on truck.

Thank you. It seems like I will need some special tool to set the timing mark?

Can you show me how the timing tool looks? I have a DD15 engine. I’ve never used such a tool. Is it to rotate a metal wheel to a particular spot? What’s the purpose behind it?

It looks like I’ll need a timing pin and also a barring tool?

it's not a timing tool it's a set for valve adjustment tools the part is called engine barring tool. there is a window on gear case housing. it must be installed there with two bolts. by using 3/4 drive ratchet you turn flywheel until engine is on tdc. You can turn the engine by big flat screwdriver too but it will be slow.
What you want to do ? valve adjustment ?

look at this video he has OM tools
