There's guys who work for Bennett who do okay doing power-only moves with a big truck. I don't think running your own authority would be realistic...could be wrong.

Tried to make a U turn on 4.5 lanes and it wasn't enough. Backed up into traffic and didn't pay enough attention to my trailer and the corner of the trailer hit the corner of the truck. Heard the trailer tires skid a little bit. Pulled up along the sidewalk and saw this. Split like butter.
Was on my way to pick up the first of 3 units not far from home. Canceled the job, loaded the trailer on the truck and went back to my parking spot.

Found a welder today, should be fixed by tomorrow.

Did you start up from scratch with that Ram and trailer you had before? Moneywise I was kind of curious what I'd be looking at to start my own deal and whether I could make any money running under 26k with a two car trailer. I don't even have a trailer let alone an authority and was just wondering if that was even an option worth bothering with compared to just leasing back on with one of the RV outfits.

Yea started from scratch. Opened company, got my dot/mc, bought my ram and trailer and started getting cars off of central dispatch.

I dont think it's a good time for a 2 car hauler. I actually posted my trailer and my H&T bed for sale. Converting my truck back to a semi to either run power only loads or get a 5 car suncountry.

Everything doubled in price lately but cars are paying the same as before. Used trailers are going for full new price right now and trailer manufacturers have a year long wait minimum.

For the right offer I might sell my truck and just leave trucking right now.

A more realistic idea (maybe) would be to find some direct customers to haul RV/Horse/cargo trailers for and start my own authority rather than play around with cars and car trailers. The insurance there is the scary part. Not even sure they'd talk to me. It would be expensive for driveaway/towaway although I do know a guy who did it recently so I know it can be done. The other issue is you have to have a towaway/transporter plate to put on the towed unit, which usually is provided by the RV hauling companies that guys lease onto. There would definitely be some hoops but I just don't like the idea much of going back to the RV hauling company plantation where all the others are hanging out. Very few of them aren't a bunch of vultures looking to take advantage of guys and pay them crap. I know, I used to work for one of them.

Looks too steep for cars and with no center rails or winch I don't see it being used for trailers either. I'm going to guess golf carts too. Those medium duty GMs are pretty cool looking.
