awesome news

a company... has cleared my MVR... woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT

1. we are waiting for same company to clear my medical history (I had cancer as a kid and was given a clean bill of health 19 years ago)

2. we are waiting for verification that my medication is not a problem - I am on testosterone shots once a week, I self administer, and do not need to have needles on the truck, with the medication alone I am able to walk into any pharmacy anywhere in the usa and receive a needle, go to the bathroom and do my shot. and the needle never needs to be on the truck

...

as soon as that gets cleared...

wow that is good news for you and me both, as I am kind of in the same boat as you. If I may ask, what company? I talked to a recruiter again at Centrral and told him my situation in detail and he said that the company makes their decision on a case by case basis! So there is hope for me as well. Im glad things are looking up for you. I have learned and Im sure you have too, that there are very important life lessons to be learned by going through things like this. Not only do we learn lessons but we also develop as great apprieciation for how far one has come and for what we have earned! Im happy for you!

It isn't the ticket that is causing your problem at this point. It is the suspension. Your mvr is showing a 3.5 year suspension. Most carriers and insurance companies won't touch you until 3 years have passed from the time it was reinstated. You may find a company, but it has only been a year, from your post. You may want to get a copy of your mvr and see how it appears. Most carriers and insurance companies only consider the last 3 years when looking at your mvr. Had you paid the ticket sooner, this might not be a problem. I understand that you may not have had the money to pay this at the time, but you allowed several years to pass without taking care of it. That in itself could be problematic for some carriers. Most states will work with you to pay fines if you don't have the resources to pay the entire amount. But, you need to call them and see what can be worked out. In this business you try to avoid any tickets. If you receive a ticket you need to fight it. Your livelihood literally relies on having a clean mvr with NO suspensions or moving violations. Some carriers will allow 2 or perhaps as many as 3 moving violations. The ticket you received would have been an automatic loss of a job in this industry once the carrier and insurance company found out. Anything 15 mph or greater is considered reckless driving. With my insurance company any ticket over 84 mph will disqualify a driver, regardless of the posted speed limit.

You may want to ask those carriers who turned you down for the reason and when they might reconsider hiring you. My guess is that they won't look at you until the suspension drops off your record. That occurs at the end of 3 years from when your license was reinstated. Should you apply to other carriers you could fax or email them a copy of your current mvr and ask them whether they would consider you. They would be able to tell you before going through the actual application process. If you already had experience, it might not be as much of a problem, but without experience you are more limited. Most carriers hire those who have experience. That is primarily due to insurance. Even if a carrier likes you, they still need to get your information past the insurance company. You might check with local construction companies. Some of them might be able to insure you to drive a dump truck. I have known some owners who are more lenient than the otr companies. At least you would be working and earning money while gaining some driving experience. Although driving a dump won't count for otr experience, it would be much better than sitting around twiddling your thumbs.

I was thinking the same thing. The suspension is what is killing you. Its going to be 3 years from the time you got your license reinstated. So probably 2015. The reckless driving is 6 years old so for most companies thats not an issue. Keep filling out apps though. There are over half a million trucking outfits in this country. Try small companies to get some experience

MAN! just don't understand how a lot of people think, "I drive like an idiot and give my driving record tons of bad marks and now I want to get paid to drive" Just doesn't make sense!, Why would any company look at someone with a record like this? Rant over

there was no wreckless driving charge ever filed, and most of the companies just want to see 2 years
