I am a driver with only 8mos otr exp and 1 ticket in my pov last june..I thought I got it off my record by taking a defensive driving class..but nope! Come to find out CDL drivers don't qualify for that program...another Way the govt screws us!..anyway I live in Illinois and I am looking for a good company to continue my carrer with..I would really like regional..cause I get my daughter every other weekend and would like to be home for that...I really liked the way mcleod was sounding but the more I read about them on here the less excited I am...same with USX...I know no company is perfect and every company has its issues but there has got to be a company with more good days then bad...right??lol so if anyone can please please please point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!!!! Thanks!!

Luckily you live in the best spot in the US for regional or local driving jobs! Even if you were to go otr chances of getting by the house more frequently are pretty high! Illinois and Chicago are right in the middle of the freight lanes and are major hubs for freight.

Take the time to do your homework and I'm sure it will pay off! Try looking into the food distributors like Sysco, Associated Grocers, KEHE, Sara Lee, General Foods, Omega, Soderholm, Marceli foods etc...

    Good luck!

Try going for YRC, Old dominion, and ABF. All local, but some might be OTR. Great companies, union benefits ll that. Im a city driver for YRC, or you can do line-haul, going that you might be out for a few nights maybe, but can be home everynight. As a city driver you will be home everyday and paid hourly

YRC is HUGE!! its one of the biggest LTL companies. They own New Penn, Holland, and Reddaway(all regional carriers) YRC is the old Yellow Freight and Roadway Express Companies. Yellow bought out Roadway and as of three years ago they combined the companies into 1. They regional carriers are still their own entities though

I understand what you're trying to do on the visitation. Been fighting that battle for 5 years in this industry.
