Clutch knee destroyed will I be able to pass a dot phys and drive again.I had displaced fracture of my knee cap meaning one part piece was on one side and the other piece was on the other and had a lot of bone turned into dust tore acl pcl and lcl had most of my cartilage removed ruptured my petaller tendon and blew my quad muscle out. This all happened on 12/27/12 in Eagan MN. The trailer was icy and when turning around to climb out of trailer using proper climbing procedure my leg slipped and I crashed to the ground. Been off work ever since. Got a call today from my company telling me to report back on Monday to begin driving eight hours a day . Some how it slipped passed me that I was release to duty. Even though I am only able to bend my left leg to 85 degrees on a good day keep in mind I haven't even completed physical therapy yet. Pain is something else, its either terrible pain or my whole knee is numb. I like the numbness but the pain is more common. Have little to no muscle left in my left leg and it seems to buckle at times. Just curious cause my medical card is up Anybody here think I can pass a physical. Its up in the air with me right now. Cause, I honestly don't know if I even have a reflex anymore or if the doc has me squat I know that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Destoried left knee but told to return to driving.

If you do not feel fit for duty/safe to drive--contact YOUR DOCTOR NOW! Tell him how you are doing--Have him test you if needed and then he can keep you off work if needed
DO NOT go back to full duty if you aren't healed! -
all my physicals have required bending on the knees. then i sit on the bed and he hits my knees with that little hammer to test my reflexes.
while i'm sure you can probably still drive. technically speaking. the clutch pedal might give your fits. hopefully your not driving one of them trucks with a very stiff clutch. -
Oh yeah he did do the reflex thing,forgot...that one always makes me giggle, don't ask bc I have no idea why! Lol

I haven't driven since my injury. I have a heck of time just trying to get my leg to bend to get into a car. As far as bending my knee I can barely put my left shoe on without having to strech. I can't even use my left leg to be the domient one when climbing stairs. It will be quite noticelbe when the doc has me sit on the table to check my reflex and my left leg is not bending as well as my right. When my physical therapist tells me he advices me not to do it cause it will led to further damage kinda sends of red flags. As far as getting ahold of my doc. I will see flying pink elephants before that happens.

A couple things here.
This should be Workers Comp has the Dr or the insurance company told you that you are fully released for work w/o any limitations?
Do you have a lawyer? If not and you don't feel capable of working yet this might be a good time to consult one, not hire one yet.
Under Workers Comp you're allowed a 2nd opinion, when I tore my rotator cuff I didn't like what the first Dr was saying and I switched.
Call the Insurance Company and thell them you need a 2nd opinion because you don't feel fully healed and that their Drs office won't return your calls.
Also call your states Insurance Commission and explain your story to them.
If you don't feel safe going back don't -
Is this injury being treated under a L&I claim? If yes, did your treating physician release you to go back to work? Also if you are still in therapy they should be reporting your progress to the doctor. Make sure everybody involved is doing their job. Things get lost in the shovel and before you know you are in a mess. Your company can tell you all day long to return to work, but it has to be approved by the doctor. You should get a modified job until your able to do your job as well. That is where the physical therapist comes in. Also you have 7 years to reopen an existing claim if you did not settle it. If you a forced in going back to work. You need to go, but you can reopen your claim if you are unable to perform your job.
I went through an on the job injury about 10 years ago and it was a mess. I finally had to get legal council, but that did not make up for just about loosing everything ruining a my marriage and so on. Remember you will always be treated like you do not want to work due to the staggering number of people who take advantage of the system.
Good luck to you. -

This is workers comp and its an out of state claim so its been so much fun dealing with them and trying to locate a lawyer. Claim is in Minnesota and I live in the Ohio. My restrication as of my last appointment are as follows. It says I can left 25 pounds and drive 8 hours. Heck at times I still have to use a cane for stablity. It doesn't state what I can drive and the my company and wc seems to believe I am fit for duty. Whelp its there money so if they want to get a me physical and I fail it. Its only going to be a told you so. Do I want to go back to the road, sure. Is it going to be when my company thinks I am fully healed probably not. Its only been and up hill battle ever since my injury and climb that hill ain't easy on one good knee. As far as a second opinon wondering that myself. The fact my doc sees me for five to ten minutes looks at my knee and tells me see you in a few weeks. That doesn't give me a confident feeling. I don't even get the time to ask questions. -
To be honest with you,no I do not think you can pass the physical.Make an appt right now before the office closes to see your doctor Monday.I think he may excuse you from driving till your physicl therepy is done. From now on,don't climb in the trailer or trk unless it's free of ice nd snow.
