Always get a revised rate con with detention (or lumper money) added on there ASAP. In order to do that you will typically have to submit your lumper receipt and/or signed POD with "in & out times" and/or whatever else the broker wants to see on those bills in order to pay that.
The sooner you do it the better. I make it a point to send in all documentation for an updated rate con with detention and lumper money added on as soon as I get empty. I never have a problem getting detention and lumper money from brokers.
Most brokers will update and send over a revised within a few minutes of you submitting those docs. Some need 24 hours. More often than not when drivers say they never get detention it's because they don't document everything and think that verbally telling a broker is good enough. It's not.
