I have an oil leak between the cylinder block and bell housing and it seeps down the oil pan. It's not excessive but I have a feeling it's going to become worse overtime. Is there a stop leak or anything of those sorts that can work temporarily? I'm on the road and won't be able to take care of this til I get home.

I've had this same leak for years, costs too much in labor cost to get that rear main seal replaced so I just let it be till its time to replace the clutch. Adding Lucas to the oil helps slow it down, but it wont stop until you replace the seal.

It's not the rear main seal. Most likely it's going to be some gasket sealer that's worn out between the housing and block. It seems to be a common problem for the Detroit's in certain years. It's a big job, I might have to inspect the housing if it's any good, but I definitely would have to clean the surfaces and apply the gasket eliminator.

The sealent between rear engine foundation and engine let loose it will only get worse. At least mine did drop tranny pull clutch and rear engine foundation reseal I used the stuff ford uses on there power stroke disels seals it up good no leaks been over two years now. The original sealant got to hard and brittle that's way they leaked. No harder then clutch job did my over a weekend.

I cleaned the area of leak. Degreased with gasoline and acetone. Applied windshield adhesive by finger on leak area. Leak stopped. temporary cheap fix.

didn't detroit have some article out that read that there is no gasket there? it is only sealant and is an issue with the 14L engines. very expensive fix labor wise. let it leak.

Yes it's a detroit thing. They all do it. 12.7 or 14L.
They don't have a gasket between flywheel housing and block. Just some liquid sealer. About 4-5 hundred thousand miles they leak.
Have to be pulled apart and re sealed.
I like the idea of useing Fords powerstroke sealer. That stuff is the real deal. Probley never leak again.

I had a leaking 05 DD S6014L . It was leaking badly right there were you mentioned. I cleaned the area, degreased with gasoline, acetone and put windshield adhesive by finger. Waited 5-6 hour to cure the adhesive. The leak was stopped. I know it was not a permanent fix but the leak was stopped for 6-7 years . I sold the truck like that )))
