We are running an old woods truck with DDEC 4, the VGT turbo is leaking air around the actuator rod where it enters the turbo, is it possible to disconnect the rod , set the rod to a position between maximum and minimum boost, cement it in place with high temperature sealant and operate the turbo with the blades in a set position. The air actuator assembly is in working condition with no leaks.

The turbo is good mechanically for end play etc and makes no noise. Is there any reason not to try this??

I think you should repost this in the garage. There's a lot of guys there who would know i'm sure, I think they just haven't seen it.
