lol,yes it's an inline 6. we were running the 12.7's all thru the 90's,until FL took over. we had a lot of driver back in the day all up in arms over the new trucks spec'd with detroits...."when this cat goes i go...." bs. none of them left, and we had a lot of series 60 fans shortly after.

8V92 detroit? wasn't that some goofy 2 stroke weed whacker joke motor they used for a while? i've heard of those.

On a long lonesome highway, east of Omaha, you can listen to the engine moaning out it's one long song-Bob Seger-Turn the Page. The 92's were a popular bus engine several years ago. They had 92 cubic inches per cylinder and could be bolted together for a 12v or 16v configuration. I'd almost bet Mr. Seger was setting on top of a Silver 8V92, when he penned that song, back in the early 70's. Sweet sounding engines for sure. Back in those days though, Detroit's 800 number was 1-800-LEAKOIL, lol.

contact rebel 127 he can tell you just what YOU need to know, especially if you want to keep your 11.1 but have it run like a 12.7.

The 11.1 liter series 60 is definitely an inline SIX, and the block has the SAME dimensions as a 12.7 liter.

You really shouldn't be a smart ### when you are so wrong, it just makes you look more foolish. 11.1 L, 12.7 L and 14.0 L are all Series 60 engines (meaning inline 6 cylinder). The 4 cylinder is a Series 50 and is only 8.5 L.

An 11.1 L can be converted to a 12.7 L, but the stroke is different, so you need to swap cranks. It is not as simple as buying 12.7 L cylinder kits. The 11.1 has a 5.47" stroke, where the 12.7 has a 6.3" stroke. The bores are the same (5.12"). In the case if the 14 L, bore and stroke are both more than the 12.7 L (5.17" bore and 6.61" stroke).

To answer the questions of swapping in a 12.7 L, it is the same exact external dimensions and will bolt right in place of an 11.1 L.

Bean Jr., starmac, ODR and 2 others Thank this.
