I've got a 1994 Detroit 60 Series, 11.7L, and wondering what RPM is normal for running. It seems to like 1500. In 10th gear (I have a Super 10), I get a bouncing/rocking starting as low as 1300 RPM, maybe as a result of the engine lugging? (This is when unloaded.) I'm not sure what my rear diff ratio is.

My 97 century 8 just keep it in the green zone on the tech. But if memory serves me right o would let it lug as low as 10. But 13-17 was normal operating range.
    1300 rpm = 55mpr
    1500 rpm = 65mpr
    1700 rpm = 75mpr

You missed typed engine size. You have either a 11.1 or a 12.7.

I've got a 9/92 build 11.1 series 60. It pulls good down to 1200, but as advised by long time detroit 60 owners, I no longer pull hard below 1400. Not lugging should help it live a longer life..
I cruise anywhere between 1400-1750. Mine seems to like high revs, & still returns great mpg.

If bouncing at 1300, I'd downshift immediately. That's still well within Detroit's operating range, & shouldn't bounce, or vibrate. I'm far from a mechanic but I'd start inspecting the engine mounts, trans mounts, drive line, & suspension. Something may be worn out.
