I started in a U model Mack with a five speed.
You could make a ham sandwich in between shifts in that truck...

Make it stop!!! After about 9 hours of that crap, you'll think differently. That had to be a V8 something, it wound out way too quick to be a 238. The General and Brigadiers were nice trucks, minus the Detroit, of course.

MACK E-6 and BoxCarKidd Thank this.

What did you say? What did he say? Next you don't worry about what they said. They will repeat it louder if it is important.
Take care of things that are important and or cannot be replaced.
I still love hearing a buzzen dozen in a tractor puller.

I know that statement is surprising, but it is true. No, not quiet like your Prius going down the street, but some are definitely quieter than others. And here's another one that will blow everyone's mind... There are two stroke Detroits that are clean and don't leak oil all over the place.

I can't think of the name of that game, but when you're a kid there's a game that you tell one person and they tell someone else and they tell someone else and it goes down the line but it all is originated on what someone else said. That's the story of the 2-stroke Detroit.

I could understand someone wanting a quieter engine or an engine that develops power differently. But it is amazing how misunderstood that simple little engine actually is.

    Ruthless and Hulld Thank this.

when I worked at the ih dealership,I was a factory trained 71 series and 92 series wrench as well as 855 series cummins, When you run the rack on a 71 or 92 you better know what your doing or you will grenade it on start up. And drive it like you stole it because they dont like lugging. They made great machinery and industrial engines. I used to run a P&H excavator with a 238 screaming all day, part of the reason I wear hearing aids today I think, that and wrenching..

    Hulld Thanks this.
