I drove a single axle Louisville Ford with a 238 and 10 speed. It was my truck for almost a year, pulling 48 ft. reefers.( went around the scales a lot with that setup) I was on a particularly long run once to Bloomington, Ill, ( from Wisconsin) never a speck of trouble. When I got back, the mechanic said, "park it in the shop, it's due for a service". Next morning, I come in, my truck is gone, I asked the mechanic where it was. He said it's at a repair shop having a new motor put in. I said, What? It seems, when they put the new oil in, and fired it up, it put a rod through the block. I mean, that could have happened anywhere. So I thought, ok, cool, new motor ought to do better than the old one, right? When I got it back, it performed exactly like it did before, foot to the floor all day.OLDSKOOLERnWV, bzinger and Humblepie Thank this.

Dad retired from R.F Steiners in Huntington, during that time he made a lot of freinds with drivers. One driver (Weedhopper) as he was known drove a International Transtar ll cabover with a 6-71 for Imperial Bedding out of Huntington. During a rebuild Weed ask dad if he could give it just a little extra lol...... Dad set in a little larger injectors for him. Weed was happy with the results for sure, the small Cummins powered trucks found that weed was now a hard cat to track after lol. Weedhoppers old saying to what you mentioned is this..... with a 6-71 you just can’t let the antifreeze touch the front of the radiator

.
