Hey guys we have a few customer with DD15 engines and we are finding the coolant filters completely plugged with what looks like mud/dirt or some kind of sediment during an oil change. Coincidently we did two services today and both filters had this brownish/greyish looking type of mud that completely plugged up the pleats in the filter. I did not get a picture, but the one filter was actually hard to get out because it was so plugged up. Both of these trucks are totally unrelated to each other and in different applications. We have seen filters like this on somewhat of a regular basis. There is no sign of oil in the reservoir and the customers do not complain of coolant loss or levels going up. Anyone seen or heard of this before?

Stop leak looks like brown mud in a coolant filter.

Maybe someone topped off the AF with something incompatible with the coolant already there. I'm very careful not to do that.

Conklin has a stop leak product called dike, I will agree with above posters. First place it goes is the coolant filter, and it has a brown texture to it, with green coolant and even more in elc. It totally clogs the coolant filter quickly. In applications without a coolant filter, it's a pretty good product. Especially in the liner oring area.
DetroitDudeBro and Heavyd Thank this. -
Do you have access to DDSN? If you do, check out 13ts19 service bulletin. There is silicate additive dropping out of the coolant, causing the gel like sludge. Pressure test the pressure cap, drain coolant from the block and radiator, remove the water pump and inspect for damage. If none found, flush system, r&r the filter and add new coolant
