Mine is a 92 series. Tho i can't guaranty it was original equipment like i said in my edit above.
The truck was built the year i was born so obviously i wasnt the first owner. But i wasnt the only one running a 12v92. Quite a few of those guys i ran with in the 90s had them. At least for a few years till fuel got to be cost prohibitive.

There are also 149 series engines running ddec 3 ecm. I have no idea why, or where they are used.

I've seen a few transplanted in, but Detroit never released the 12v92 with an automotive part number, they were all industrial/marine.
IIRC, the Silver 92s went up to DDEC 4, but by that point they were only in buses and specialized trucks from the smaller manufacturers.

Ya it may not have been original but either way it would be simple to put one in. And parts are still widely available.

An excellent year. That’s the year I graduated from high school. And straight into a truck.

I didn't notice any remarks about an essential Detroit experience, having the throttle spring break and the truck stuck on wide open throttle. I thought it was pretty common, it happened to me twice driving my father's Pete with an 8v92.

The first time I used a bungee as a makeshift spring, the second time I had a spare in the truck. I was in the middle of nowhere and just let it run in the big hole for about 20 miles, then shut it down and coasted into a rest area.

My father is gone but I have that truck in the barn....one of these days it will roar again.
