Thanks for your input.
Because I'm a mechanical perfectionist, new upgraded hi output compressor will be going on with a AD2 air dryer filter & purge kit, also service the Luberfiner 750, but I'll take the cheaper initial route redo the blower seals, I'm sure you are 95% right on this.
I also found I have a disconnected air control idle valve on the governor, I need to replace with normal idle speed screw assembly.
Zero coolant in oil, truck had sat for 4 + years, filters were dated 2004, so one can only assume that it had run minimally in that time, the oil drained was uniform in consistency, so figures crossed here no coolant/oil issues.

Depends on what you want or need.

the biggest advantage of the old 71 and 92 series is they wont quit on you even down a couple of cylinders and 5 lbs of oil pressure
straight 40 weight always was best for me and when they got wore out just add a gallon or 2 of lucas
I called lucas pretend oil pressure but in one of the boats it saved me an overhaul midseason
engine was still running on 5 cylinders and fished everday until herring season closed -
SmokinCAT,
Is it a 71 or 92 series? Silver?

8x8, I'm sure it's there, I will have to look when i get to the shop this weekend. I will send you a PM when I know I have it. -
The US military still uses the 8v92 that has been updated with ddec electronics in the 8x8 oshkosh. I read somewhere they don't plan to end of life these trucks until 2025.

I have heard the same.
