Hello i am from Greece, Athens and i have a problem with a firetruck oshkosh with detroit engine 8v92 with electronic injectors.
When i hit the full throttle the engines goes only to 1700 rpm and when i hit slowly the throttle the engines goes to 2200. I changed the fuel filters and throttle sensor and the problems still yet.
With this problem with rpms the firetruck can't change the gears.
thank you for any answer

I have never heard of a 8V92 Detroit with electronic injectors. I’ll sit this one out. I’m really curious.

Love that motor, but haven't heard of ECM model.Being in a fire truck I bet it's been tweeked.Fuel pump?

Check the emergency shutoff on the supercharger, if it has one. Is it blowing smoke and if it is, what color, that will tell a lot.
-
Where is the emergency shut off on the supercharged?the engine smoke a little black. You meaning a fuel transfer pump near the tank?

Back in my Army days, both the HET (M1070) and PLS (M1074) were powered by 8V92TA DDEC II 500 HP motors. Think they made up to DDEC IV. You have a picture of the ECM to decide the electronic series?

If it's black smoke, that's too much fuel, not enough air. The emergency shutoff,if it has one should have a cable from the back of the supercharger. What it does is it shuts off all air to the motor in case of a runaway. Detroit's of that style are known to run away, they'll actually suck the engine oil into the cylinders and run on it till implosion. There should be a cable running to the dash. Give me some info on the truck, has it been sitting, is it a twin turbo , what type of air filters.pictures would be best. Getting back to the shutoff, if it has one it would be at the back of the blower, which is the big aluminum box that sits in the center of the block between the heads. It would be a small metal block that's spring loaded and it has notches in it. If that's not all the way open to allow full air flow it will run like crap, exactly like you're describing. Check for that firstly. Then, if that's not the problem, check all air filters and connections going to the turbo's( I'm assuming it's a twin turbo). Let me know.Last edited: Feb 18, 2019
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
The picture is too small, try to take some of the whole motor both sides, the air boxes and the turbo's or turbo.I believe that's the passenger side the shutoff would be on the other side.
