It dont directly. The program is not compatible. Most lo nox programs are uploaded following a overhaul. Dealers are required by law. Cam profiles can and have changed. Performance was not in there mind when writing a lo nox program. They were fazing out the engine and Goverment dropped the hammer on them.

The I have seen plenty of drivability issues with OEM parts and lo nox program, seen plenty of issues with updated parts rebuild and not uploading lo nox. They have purposely made things not work together. Again drivability and performance was thier last thought. Not having the Goverment spank thier Peters was. Producing cleaner tailpipe emissions and increasing fuel consumption to the consumer. Sure might make a guy just by a newer model truck and engine in the chase for fuel savings huh?

I understand the use a egr cooler. That still leaves it warmer than ambient air temp.

You are correct. Most OEMs started doing this in 2013 hence the durability improvement that has been noticed. Another round of NOx reduction is coming so here we go again. Close coupled SCR catalysts or electrically heated SCR catalysts are coming along with greater injection pressures and injection events per cycle.

    swaan Thanks this.

Nobody is talking about ambient air temp.

So having a hotter charge of air induced into the cylinder is gonna lower cylinder temp?

It has less oxygen content, so yes it lowers combustion temperature.

I mean you guys theory would mean newer emission engines would run cooler than older pre emissions engines. Not 30 to 40 degrees hotter than older engines.

Guess that would not require to super heat and burn off remaining exhaust gasses in the DPF?

Do some more research and you will see we are just presenting simple facts. Combustion is kept in a tighter window to keep NOx and PM emissions in check. One goes up, other goes down.

    Roberts450 and swaan Thank this.
