I dont need to. Increasing injection psi, and boost increases heat. Inducing a hotter charge of air, increases heat. Increasing temps with 7th injector or overfueling, depending on brand increases temps. There is no way to reduce tailpipe emissions with out increasing temps. This is what the lo nox does. Not performance minded again.
It only does to a point. It in end results increases EGT which increases boost. You need fuel for boost. Fuel makes heat. Egt goes up with added fuel.
No, that is the normal operation of a diesel engine. Can't change that. Injection timing, pressure with added temps higher than pre emission engines are capable of reduce nox. Adding lo nox to a pre emissions 2000 and earlier engine increases intake air, exhaust temp, cylinder temps, fuel temps. They are forcing a engine not designed that emission standard to the standard. It's really a joke. Lower performance and shorter life with increase fuel usage. Really, I feel refining fuel differently would make the biggest change. I am not disagreeing with most of what you are stating, but the strategy to lower NOx was retarted (spelled wrong for a reason) injection timing not advanced. Advanced resulted in good fuel economy and power.
We can agree the strategy was bad. I'm not gonna argue or have. Performance with no emissions talk. I will continue, lowering compression and adding fuel to increase boost. Advancing timing and adding fuel only improves so far as stock. And makes black smoke. Black smoke is fuel burnt after top dead center or in exhaust manifold. Not power. You wanna impress me, build big power and no smoke.
