I know that my turbo isn't building boost like it should because I can't hear it.

There is something in DDDL called a turbo hysteresis test. This will help diagnosing turbo problems.

What did you end up doing? I’m in the same boat. DDEC6 epa07. Turbo was coughing blowing heavy black smoke so I replaced turbo but now it whistles like CRAZY. I dunno if that’s normal. Then i found metal shaving in oil so new rod and bearing. New leaf spring bushing. Two deletes because first one wasn’t done righ. I’m in pretty deep. Now the truck is on the side of the road with maybe a bad ecm I’m getting better diag tomorrow. One tech scanned and codes read bad crank case and cam shaft sensor among low voltage and battery . I’m starting to regret this year model. And I’m also only getting 5.5 mpg.

No V-Pod on DDEC 6 Series 60, it has a VGT Actuator. Big bucks to replace this turbo.
