I use Splenda in mine. I tried honey and Stevia, just not the same.

There are two kinds to diabetes. Which one is it.
The real treat is that you can manage it. If you don't it can put you unconsious at the worst time and kill people at 70 mph or whatever.
I battle a hypoglycemia which is not diabetes but a form of food processing that is difficult sometimes where there is no food at all. For me I get mean, then really cranky. A good meal takes care of that usually. Father has diabetes which puts me at risk for it.
Get conformation from a different doctor. This would be a case where the DOT test may or may not have uncovered something that will save your life and possibly someone's life. Again medication is one way to keep on trucking even with that. But you need to be very careful because there are parts of the USA where you will be far from food sources. You might have to shoot dinner /teaseNavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Those are chemicals, it's not the same as actual sugar. I recommend you don't use fake sugar where possible. Ive tried em, but found they get the body and raise hell with me.

Metformin, I think is the most common drug to start, so I hope will help you, with it being 300, it may have been from eating a carb/sugar loaded meal the night before and then getting up and eating a lot of junk, drinking a lot of sugared coffee or sodas, etc/. But with it being that high, you most likely are diabetic. Anything over 180 now is bad after fasting. The A1C gives the drs. a better look at how your sugar has been doing and is more accurate, the blood replaces its self after so many days and this is why it does a 3 mo period. So hopefully your primary dr can help you.
Just helping yourself out with what you can do now and in the present will be a big help to your numbers.
Cut out all sugared sodas and drinks and coffee with sugar and creamers with sugar (as much as possible).
Try to cut out all the white carbs and replace with things like brown rice, sweet potato, whole wheat, etc.
A slice of bread counts as one diabetic exchange if you follow a diet plan, 1/2 c rice is an exchange, 1 small potato; cereals depend on the type and usually 1/2 c to 1 c per exchange; 6 crackers or so are 1 exchange
Try getting the very small sacks of chips like Frito's, or Cheetos, some have only about 100 cal or so.
Fruit is even a sugar, so within reason. 1 sm apple, or orange, or 10 grapes, 1/2 banana,
Eat a couple of sticks of celery with peanut butter for a snack.
Vegatables are not created equal either. Carbs include corn, beans, carrots, green peas
Tomatoes, green beans, turnips, collards, spinach, cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, have less carbs and more can be eaten.
Eating a salad is good if you don't weigh it down with gallons of dressings. Watch what you put on it, and it can be used for a light meal.
All the nuts are good for you to eat in small amounts and would be good for a snack.
Meat can be eaten but not the whole 20 oz T-bone. Try sticking to leaner cuts and smaller sizes, not 4 hamburgers. Cheese is usually 1oz per exchange, 1 egg (good source of protein and vitamin in a package), the best I can remember one drumstick is equal to 3 proteins exchanges.
Not eating is just as bad as eating too much, and your numbers can still be high because of that.
Diabetes can cause fatty liver disease, neuropathy, vision problems and blindness.
Hope this helps some. Mine is still high, but doing better. I am on metformin 2x a day so far. -
You probably ate a bunch of junk the night before your physical and junk for breakfast just before the physical. This will give a spike in blood sugar that's temporary; just long enough to fail the physical. Brisk walking will bring sugar levels down. Do that after each meal.
No bananas or oranges; they're terrible for diabetics.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
