I got a quickie local on Wednesday morning, then picked up a load in Houston going to Springfield, MO (pd miles- 624). I am preplanned on two loads, the first one picking up here in Springfield going to Harrisonville, MO (pd miles 131) and the second picking up in Spring Hill, KS which I will T-call in Albuquerque, NM (pd miles- 830).

I got a QC message a couple days ago stating that Swift would like each driver to run an extra 109 miles per week so "we" can reach "our" goal for the year. I'm not sure how this would be possible for me since I usually run out my 70. The only way I could increase miles would be to forgoe hometime- which I'm not doing!!! Maybe there are drivers out there who are not running all available hours, and I guess the message would apply to them. But most of all, it would apply to the planners. Shrinking my deadhead miles would then allow me to run more loaded miles. Common sense, right?

what happens if you sleep on the the side of the road if you are tired. Does Highway Patrol mess with you? should you only stop at a rest area or a T/S? I see lots of trucks on the shoulder and I wonder if they are taking a nap.

I see that you are also getting pushed to run as many miles per week as possible. My mentor and I were provided with a long team load and we'd run ahead of schedule only to be faced with another load placed on us before we even completed the first. I'm not surprised to read that you are getting assigned two loads grouped to compliment each other.

I can't blame you for getting exhausted! I can't see how anybody can run weeks on end without some hometime!

It's personalized to inspire you to achieve more for the company. It's their goals. Not mine. I will run as hard as you can throw them at me. Turn the trucks up to 65 and everyone will make more money.

They asked us to take one less day off a month. Like we don't have too little time with our loved ones!

I pestered them for 5hrs on Tuesday to get me a PP. Never got one. I got a trailer with a bad tire and my truck developed an air leak. It got "fixed" after 3 1/2 days sitting in Richmond. They need to get more mechanics everywhere. it was "a 10 minute fix." It took yoo long to get into the shop. I spent 4 days last week sitting in Lancaster. I am sitting in the T/A in Troutsville VA getting the fixed airleak refixed!

First off, I owe an explanation for my abscence (sp?). Internet time has never been a big priority for me. My days are pretty full with working, sleeping, showering, eating, exercising, etc, etc. So when I added one more thing into my day (building a relationship with Redd) Internet time fell off the bottom of the list.

Secondly, I am very tired, so if I don't make sense, you know why.:biggrin_25526:

After T-calling in Albuquerque, they asked me to deadhead to Fontana, CA (pd miles 750) and I got a load from Ontario, CA back to Albuquerque (pd miles- 769). I took some time off there, and came back to work on Monday. I picked up a load of palletts in Albuquerque and took it to a pumpkin farm in Clovis, NM (pd miles- 220). Which was a first- I've never been to a pumpkin farm before.

Then it was up to Amarillo, TX to pick up a load of copper wire going to De Kalb, IL (pd miles- 1107). I delivered that one yesterday afternoon, then went down to Romeoville, IL to get a Home Depot load with two deliveries this morning, Sterling Heights, MI, and Macomb, MI (pd miles- 366). I am now in Saginaw, planned on a load from Sebewaing, MI to Louisville, KY (pd miles- 547). I don't pick up until tomorrow, so I get some much needed rest tonight. Yeah!:biggrin_2559:

In some earlyer posts you mentioned going to Indianapolis, IN a couple times. Does Swift have a teminal in Indy or were you delivering a load?

Indianapolis has a drop yard there. Forget the name of the actual place, but its some truck and trailer repair shop they lease space from. Pretty good location. Too bad Swift dont have a terminal there.

its about a mile south of I-70 x79 on S West St.
