300lbs a hole. I did weigh on my truck yesterday and added 86 gallons of fuel. I wrote down the numbers didn't do the math. For a T-call load at Swift you can't be over 12500 on the steer. We have the tires to carry the extra weight.
As for my miles not to bad I have'nt broken them by week, But have averaged them out. In 3 yrs. I have hauled 201 loads covered 153,666 miles. Which averages out to just over 764 miles per load. From a former team driver most of high mileage loads 1800+ are reserved for teams . With good reason because teams split the cents per mile. For instance a solo driver making .30 cpm runs a 600 mile load. A team will need to run 1200. I've been on both sides, as a solo driver I try to never turn down a load Because one 1200 mile trip pays the same as two 600 mile trips. And more times than not I was always stacked with loads. There is only one way a driver can't get miles with Swift. They turn them down too many times. Waiting for that "perfect" load. Well that load went to a driver that was closer because they took that 150 mile load instead of turning it down.
For a T-call load at Swift you can't be over 12500 on the steer. We have the tires to carry the extra weight. Most of the terminals east of the Mississippi River it's 12000 on steers. But then again I have picked up loads that were over. Rug Trucker; About that 300 lbs. was that moving the 5th wheel or the tandems. I've noticed on these new trls. the holes are farther apart, which in turn would move more weight. But I still like to use the smaller 250 lb number when making my calculations. Better a little under than over.
The holes that are close together(about 2-3 inches apart) move about 250 lbs. The holes that are further apart do about 500 lbs. Moving the fifth wheel will move about 500 lbs for each hole.
My "new" truck is due for a B service (which actually ticked off my DM more than me- I expected hassles with a used truck) so I put off getting the fifth wheel slide fixed. I'll do it all at once. After delivering in Hurricane, they gave me a load from Cedar City, UT to Phoenix, AZ (pd miles 471). It delivers tomorrow morning. Then I'll come back here and put the truck in the shop. I always try to avoid having work done on the truck while under a load, unless it's something simple and quick. There have been times I've waited a day or two just for a service. If I'm not under a load, it won't matter if it takes a day or two. I still haven't gotten my short haul pay on the trip from Jamestown to Avenel, and I also didn't get it for the local trip I did in Richmond. There's definitely a problem here. I'll keep bugging them till it's fixed.
Hey 1nonly.. You still in Wheelersburg, OH? I'm intersted in talking with you.. If you could PM me your email..
I've started another thread about steer weights. We can take that discussion out where more drivers will see it. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ctly-steer-axle-weight-limit.html#post1314289
Yeah, I live in Wheelersburg, but I'm only home about 2-3 times a year. What do you want to talk about? I see you can't PM yet, but I'm a little fussy about giving out contact info to strangers. A girl has to protect herself, you know
Ohhhhh... I was just asking.. Don't get nervous! I'm not too far from you, and I'm considering Swift.. I was just gonna BS around.. Dont worry i'm not flirting.. lol your quiet abit older than me LOL
