I tend to strongly disagree with you dinomite, I love my job, I love driving truck, its all ive ever done and i grew up in the jump seat of an old pete, but I'm out here every day to make as much $$$ as I can possibly make! Sometimes people need to remember this is a JOB not a vacation, if some of you all want to work for cheap rates thats fine with me, but I refuse to lower my pay because trucking offers me some kind of "Freedom" or "adventure" even though I do take pride in my job and love driving, I couldnt imagine myself doing any other job.CenutryClass Thanks this.

As I said Some of us. So you have every right to agree or disagree. I have not always been this way. I started out making 20cpm and I would do all kinds of things to make more money like lump my own load. Help out lumping my own load. Lumping some other person's load. I had a family to feed and I'd be darn if I was going to let them starve.
Now that I have Faith in My Savior I no longer chase money. I am content with what I have. Yes I would love to get 3500 miles a week. I'm fine with the 2500 miles that was told to me. I am thankful with whatever I get.
I came in to my company getting top pay. I haven't had a raise in the 2 years I've been here. I don't expect a raise because no raise was promised. I left my last company being the top driver in a 120 plus truck company. Why was I the top driver because I ran hard and my fuel mileage, and Idle percentage couldn't be beat. I brought those skills over to my current company and out of 800 plus drivers I'm usually the number 1 or 2 driver in fuel mileage. With the fuel bonus that adds an extra 2 to 4 cents to my miles so. There is my raise. I could idle and not fuel where I'm told to and not get a fuel bonus and complain and quit and go look for greener pastures. I'm 2 old for that. I been there and done that @ 37 years of age and driving since I was 21 I seen enough. Some things are out of my control. I thank my Holy Father for bringing me this far. Giving me a heart to chase him and not cash. You have to make yourself marketable in this industry or you are just another number.
One guy say's he can make 600 a week picking up cans. So I think I'll try doing that on my home time. You guys have a good night. God bless.okieboy, 48Packard, machoboricua100 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Comparing miles is probably a better way to figure out what your take home might be. Check back with that Con-way recruiter you originally spoke with. Ask about average miles for teams, then do the math yourself. Comparing take home is a problem because your deductions may differ from other drivers and bennies like insurance may cost different at different companies.
It's not too late to come to Con-Way if you have been safe and if the numbers make sense to you.
For "Fat-Slob", this is not a paid blogger post. They wouldn't hire me for that job cuz i caint sppeeeel.

SO GLAD TO SEE SOMEBODY POST THAT.....thats been mine and my brother's work ethic for ever. we know we aint gonna get rich trucking or with what we currently do, but we love the job!! currently we been runnin wreckers for that past 20 years, an time for a change. no way in hell we are getting rich working 70+ hours EVERY WEEK, but we truly love what we do. now we are going into trucking for a little breather!! thanks again for this post, tooooo many people over look this one fact when they spend so much time lookin at dollar bills. if more people worked harder at living within their means, and less time tryin to keep up with them #### jones', more people would see this!Dinomite Thanks this. -
You don't always get to work 70 in a week. Trucking hours are like a rollercoaster. Most importantly its about using your time wiselyDinomite Thanks this.
