that is gonna be the hardest thing for my brother and I to get used to. we've spent our entire lives working all day, then hit the road, drive 1000 miles or so, before we stop for sleep etc. for us becoming team drivers soon, gonna have to learn how to "kill time" and that totally goes against our nature, ugh
Did a bad choice. came to USX when Con way accept me before...

That's exactly how I felt when I started driving and even going to trucking schoo.I was so use to working hard all day every day and then come to a job that you do more sitting then anything.Took some time getting use to.I've done factory work for yrs and loved it.
airforcetoo Thanks this. -
welp, while on the subject, how about team tips on time usage, would be very helpfull. our thoughts goin in was, run hard 11, fuel an switch, run hard 11, fuel, eat, switch, etc. obviously that aint gonna happen lol
-
Sometimes you won't be able to fuel and switch cause when you have to fuel or are planned to fuel will be in the middle of your shift; but sometimes it works like that. We always Showered when we switched and that helped. See who drives better ... or rather who likes to drive at night, or can deal with driving at night... some ppl can't. You may have to split it half and half. Sometimes one person or the other won't be able to drive their whole eleven due to the fact of the 14hr rule because the shipper took long etc etc. The most important thing is to get in agreement and a good understanding what your game plan is, so no one feels like they're doing all the work. And eating will probably be only once or twice a day at the same time since you'll be sleeping while he's driving and vice versa. Be safe

thanks for the tips, most of what you said wont be a problem as my brother and i share the same brain!! we both just love to drive, no matter time or conditions. thanks again.

Of course you would argue. Especially since you are one of the paid, professional bloggers yourself.

LOL! Nice try! Again, here's the real challenge: To anyone, and I mean ANYONE that is considering a career in the over the road trucking industry... Dont listen to anything posted in this forum. Nothing. From anyone. Period. Including myself, with one exception; physically go and speak to a driver in person, preferably at any truck stop (Pilot, TA, Loves, etc.) and ask them what they are making, how long in the industry, how many miles a week average, how much for health insurance. This is the best way to get the honesty that you deserve to help you make an informed decision that will save you from making as few mistakes as possible. Also, this will protect you from the false and misleading information that the paid, professional bloggers (supplied by the trucking companies) in this forum are purposely providing in an attempt to fill in the ever widening gaps in the driver personnel as a result of the terrible pay and deplorable conditions.

Paid professional is redundant since the definition of "professional", whether one is refering to prostitution, driving or writing, effectively means that one is in fact being paid to conduct the activity. Otherwise it would be a hobby.
I am flattered, however, that you think I am that good. I am, in fact a professional writer of sorts and some of my online published work can be found here: http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/1424345/richard_reese.html. A little research will reveal that I participate in no blogging whatsoever, nor do I ever intend to.airforcetoo Thanks this. -
first mistake is you went to a company that treat's its driver like a number. second most large carriers don't pay a decent wage to truck driver. lastly usx, werner, swift,cr england, ect are starter company!!!!! i guess one must start some where. My advice to you is to do a research on the companys, decide whether you are going to run local, otr, teams, ect!!!!. Sometimes you are limted to what you could run due to the area you live in. For me i run local, about 1500 miles a week, home every night and weekend, the pay is and average of 900 to 1200 a week affter taxes. I wish you the best, hope this will help you some way for the next time.
machoboricua100 Thanks this. -
A battle of wits with this guy is like a gun fight with an unarmed man...NoCoCraig, airforcetoo and Wildblackyonder Thank this.
