Got a E-mail today showing how it went in Texas 2,800 tickets and 26,000 warnings Wow.... that averages more than 3 violations per truck...

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) inspected more than 9,200 commercial motor vehicles, compared to 8,062 in 2012, during a three-day inspection effort the month of June as part of Roadcheck 2013. DPS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement troopers, specially trained Highway Patrol troopers and civilian inspectors joined forces from June 4 – June 6 during the annual inspection effort aimed at enhancing commercial motor vehicle safety.
Approximately 21 percent (1,963) of the 18-wheelers, buses and other commercial vehicles inspected were placed out of service for a variety of safety violations until appropriate repairs can be made. Among the most common infractions that led to out-of-service violations were issues with brakes and defective vehicle lighting.
Additionally, drivers were checked for compliance with state and federal laws, and 248 drivers were placed out of service. Among the violations were improper logging of duty time, driving over the maximum number of hours, and failing to have the proper type of driver license for the vehicle being driven.
In all, DPS issued 2,800 citations and more than 26,000 warnings.
The annual Roadcheck program, sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, is designed to reduce commercial vehicle highway fatalities through increased vehicle and driver safety, education and law enforcement activities throughout North America.

Sad to say, Texas has the lead in unsafe trucks. 60% should not even be on the road. Lax companys Poor PM's Kill people. No news coverage because it happens all the time. Trucks from the valley , Greedy owners, are to blame. It's old news. OTR trucks are kept up. Bet your behind I will blow the whistle on them. Bad tires, No trailer brakes, ect. I spend $ out the behind to keep my truck safe. It's my job. My #### truck is old,but safe. I will be happy to bust a news cast to anyone who wants one. Truckers Report has my address. I'm not a slut, But will be ###### if I let greedy people make poor people drive trucks that are not safe.

I agree, lots of poorly taken care of trucks in TX, but they aren't typically the ones I see the DOT picking on. They seem to keep right on running, while a truck that looks like its from a company or driver that has money to pay the ticket gets pulled over. I hate to say it, but sometimes I suspect "enforcement" is more about revenue than safety.

I had to do a DOT inspection for my truck/trailer last Friday I always take it to the kenworth dealer in town they had 3 trucks out side that had failed already that day I go there because they do what there supose to do "inspect" first thing he did was look up the inspection data on the FMCSA's website as he was doing that I asked what he was doing? They match your plate to see what DOT has wrote you up for in the past......said they inspected a truck with a major oil leak but the guy had washed it before the inspection so no oil leak was found 3 days later the guy was stopped and put OOS that was the 5th time and guess what the driver said, yap I just had it inspected and passed!

So that's the first thing they do now got wrote up for tires check them all brakes, check them all and so on. I'm 99% legal and the only reason I say they is they'll find something to write you up for. I'd love to be a DOT officer you guys would really hait me!!!

yep, they sure are.I think the DOT dug real deep to find something wrong and with many of the trks/trls and was'nt going to let it go either till they found a violation.

26000 "warnings" proves the dismal failure of CSA 2010....
