Another thing to consider is the parameters of the ECM. Perhaps progressive shifting is turned off.
Did freightliner intentionally set out to make a crappy automatic transmission?

I'm a flatbed driver. Every single load I get is usually 47000+. Rarely do I get anything under 47000.
At that weight I get only 6.8mpg on the 10 speed and 6.2mpg on the dt12.
I would not call 4 miles from 0 to 60 a race through gears.
Also why do you only focus on fuel mileage? Who cares about your mpg when you bring in 2 more loads per week? I gave up on fuel mileage a long time ago because there simply isn't any money in it. Even when you consider any fuel economy bonuses you may get.
I drive as fast as the truck will go at all times (which isn't very fast) and I make almost double the money I made when I was trying to watch my fuel economy.
This is actually fairly common even though I work for Prime, we only have a few drivers out there driving slow. The rest of us basically use the governor as a form of cruise control.TripleSix, basketcase64, NoBigHurry and 3 others Thank this. -
My average mpg is 6.6 and I am rarely at gross. Eco-mode FTW!!!Oldironfan Thanks this. -

You mentioned you drive for Prime. That means you can only go 68 mph, maybe 72 mph. Your average will be much lower. I guarantee you if you dropped your cruising speed to 65 or a little less, you'd see the fuel economy go up. Your "hammering" isn't that much faster than what I do and you're not gonna sacrifice any additional loads.
But hey, it's your money. Best of luck. -
Both are way better than the herky-jerky system in the Paccar MX13 Kenworth though.mitrucker Thanks this. -
Blame your company, not the truck.

In eco mode it should not go to 2100 RPMs for upshifting normally. It can sense the load on transmission are change shift point.. Freightliner also has a special option on some trucks. The pedal has preformance mode. When you push pedal to the flood it stops. Then if you push harder it will go a little more and put engine into preformance mode and shift at high RPMs every gear.
So if your truck has this and you just push the pedal to the floor every time it will shift at 2100 RPMssnowlauncher and Redtwin Thank this. -
