The only way I could see that happening is if your bumper had been damaged at some point and was sticking out. If your bumper had hit rubber, I don't see that it would cause any damage unless you hit hard which you probably didn't if you were backing (unless you're one of those fools who just has to accelerate while in reverse)
Regardless, there are some drivers who need an attitude adjustment, and he is obviously one of them. Since he told you to get lost, and as long as you don't hear anything from your company, I would just forget it. You had a driver on the CB watching, who said you were about to hit his truck, not that you already had hit it.
Take a lesson and move on. When in doubt, always GOAL. And when drivers are aggressive jerks, ignore em and go on with your life.
Did I hit this guys truck?

All i can say is you have good control of your temper! Someone screaming in my face like that would have got punched in the mouth.I have a short fuse for jerks like that.
I doubt you hit anything. This guy just sounds like a big blow hard ###!
If you hit him i would think he would want all of your info.CondoCruiser Thanks this. -

sounds like you did not hit anything , may have gotten close but thats it. some drivers get real paranoid when someone trys to back in beside them, just consider him the 1% who makes the rest of us look bad.

Boy this sounds like a pack of dogs jumping on the strange dog, reading these post you can tell you all are company drivers. When a person owns his own truck they learn to love and care for it like one of their own children. Is it possible to hit his truck and not know it? Yes. If he had his steer tires turned out, then this could have happened. Now as to the conduct of either driver or suggestions given, remember each person reacts differently to each situation, and evertime I got whipped I actually thought I could take the other guy, you never know til it's over. When I'm looking for a parking spot, I look to see if I can hit it pretty easy, if not I move on.

I highly doubt you hit his truck...... what an #######!!! Even if you did hit his truck, that is what insurance is for. The only time I would get that pissed is if someone hit me and tried to hurry off and run. And even then I wouldn't be screaming.
And if you had hit his tire with the DOT bumper, you would have most likely hit his truck with the box of the trailer, so i call BS
Next question, do you pull a reefer by chance?? Maybe he didn't want you parked next to him....just a thought. -
It's just a truck and crap happens. And if it was just a bumped tire then who cares??? Help the guy out and get him into the spot or better yet, why didn't you try to help him out in the first place???? Common courtsey is a long forgotten thing in this industry but an act of kindness will go a lot farther than yelling and screaming!!!volvodriver01, CornerCarver, scatruck and 2 others Thank this. -
I doubt you hit it either. Every cruncher I seen, the swing ends up hitting the mirror or running board under the door. Hitting a tire just doesn't make sense. You just don't swing that early and/or don't have the room to swing that early. It seems like the fenderwall would get hit first if that was the case.
If he was in the sleeper, he don't know what you hit. If he was in the drivers seat, he should of got on the CB.
I think you just got close and he over reacted as he sat there watching getting madder and madder, rather than doing something to prevent anything. He probably had a bad day and took it out on you. Back to the cry baby theory.SHC, Smaggs and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
Its true that every one reacts differently.
I am usually very calm by nature.
I have had my truck hit on a number of occasions.
Never even raised a sweat.
Iv'e been told by drivers who work for me now that I'm to soft and let everyone get away with way too much.
There is however 2 things that blow my top.
One is someone cursing and shouting at me like this guy you explained.
I would have have taken a deep breath and turned away.
I know I would have been shaking with rage , if he carried on I would probably got psychical.
Not a clever idea but that kind of behavior just bypasses my normally long fuse.SHC and volvodriver01 Thank this.
