i have automatic adjusters and I totally forgot that I had to pull out a pin in order to turn the adjusting hex bolt. Anyways I tightened it very much without pulling the pin. Then when I remembered I had to pull the pin, it was very very hard to losen it. I finally adjusted it properly, but might of done internal damage to the slack adjuster?
Thanks guys
Did I mess up my slack adjusters?

Usually only have to raise pin up to back them off. You did it right
Cam Roberts Thanks this. -
The thing about auto slacks is they are designed to stay in adjustment by themselves if operating properly.
1-3 full depressions of the pedal stroke keeps them adjusted to correct stroke lengths WITHOUT manual adjustment.
If they are not automatically adjusting, and you are forced to do it manually, it is but a SHORT TERM fix.
They will adjust right back out of whack with travel.
Keep an eye on it. May have to replace it.magoo68, Rideandrepair and Cam Roberts Thank this. -
No worries, Sounds like you over tightened them and had difficulty backing them off. You did the procedure right. NExt time just tighten them without going crazy. I just replaced every single slack adjuster on my truck with haldex aut slack adjusters without the pull up pin and have a ratchet effect. I did so becuase i had a few that kept going out of adjustment. Like someone else that posted, Once you install them, they never need adjustment unless they are wore out. When you do brakes, obviously you have to back them off to get drum off.
Maybe you did your brakes but if not, and they went out of adjustment, just put new ones on. They are inexpensive when it comes to safety and easy to installRideandrepair and skellr Thank this. -
