The Cleveland Elementary School shooting in San Diego happened in 1979 so given that it was only two years after that, I'm not really surprised at the reaction.
Did I **** up my career permanently?

On your DAC it will show as a company policy violation. they should still put that your driving record is satisfactory.. It shouldn't hinder you too much as long as the other stuff checks out.

Wouldn't worry about it to much which I know is easy to say in someone else shoes. Sounds like you have a good record and are a good worker. Don't waste your time looking at DAC. Its a joke anyways and most good smaller companies see it that way as well and thats if they've even heard of it. Just another means for a scumbag mega to scare guys into submission. Don't be surprised if your ex employer offers you your job back when he realizes his mistake of letting you go with a good history like yours.

Didn't read all the replies but I can't believe a 10 yr million mile employee gets fired over this. A warning OK. Suspended... Maybe. But fired? Come on. Things must be pretty slow there

However, I can also tell you that unless there is a history or pattern of company violations, one bad opinion isn't going to kill you. If 4 out of the last 6 places you work all say you had company violations, then companies are going to be worried about hiring you and having you follow their rules. Same as accidents and moving violations. If you get one, make sure its your ONLY one in a reasonable amount of time, and you should be ok. -
