Because as the driver you are responsible for any and everything in the truck. Even as a rookie you should know that.
Did I **** up my career permanently?

I'd look in it too, because I like my CDL, what if there were drugs, a handgun or whatever in it?
Tell us about the crunchys.demi, TBonze, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and 7 others Thank this. -
I'd be more concerned about finding alcohol than ammo without anything to shoot it.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
You'll need to go to the hire rite website fill out a form and they'll send you your DAC free of charge. It gives you the option of having it emailed to you but they still didn't send mine to my email.Does'nt take long for it to arrive ,a week or 2.TruckDuo Thanks this.

So you pick up the bag with your hand, walk into your dispatchers office and say, "the other driver left this in the truck."win-some-loose-less, sshewins, MrEd and 2 others Thank this.

As a hiring manager, I don't believe that this should effect you too much if you didn't have a firearm with you. They may look at it as a big question about your "attention to rules and details". I am more concerned that a company let you go with such a good driving record for a box of bullets. Was there something building up to this? Are you a 'scary guy' to them overall and this was just the way they could let you go?
You have to be careful, but I would say that there are plenty of felons getting driving jobs, so a guy with a clean record that 'broke the rules' once shouldn't be an issue.
Heck - if you are looking to go over the road, let me know. I'll take a look at your stuff and let you know what is on your DAC/MVR/PSP and the verification of employment from them.
Don't jump off the bridge yet - I think your career is salvageable, don't sweat it! -
This ^^^ is kind of true. If the police/DOT pull you over, the "it's not my bag" excuse doesn't really fly. Tough situation.
^^^^Better solution than snooping, for sure -
Thats a good thought. I know everyone I work with so honestly I would just call them and ask whats up. -
This doesn't sound right. Mayhaps we're missing something? A million miles is surely credible in my book. Something's fishy here, and not necessarily on the OP's side.
Big Don Thanks this. -
"Driver took his firearm with him when he got out of the truck". Having a firearm in your possession is a violation of company policy. Driver had ammunition for a firearm, thus he must have had a firearm with him.
That is the most likely thought process that got the OP dismissed.sshewins, G.Anthony and TheJrodTest Thank this.
