Did my DPF cause me to lose two drive recaps?

That is what Mast is selling them on. Supposed to be like a paddle boat on wet surface. Push water out faster and actually maintain good forward traction. They just seem to hum loud and disrupt the drivers video chat time. Lol!

I'll bet tire pressures have more to do with it than your DPF. I always run higher pressures as the tires run cooler.
I have a lazer temp gun and shoot them down in the tread regularly. I do pressures every morning, 1 axel a day, so every 3 days my pressures are checked. Run 110 in my drives, and 16ply steers at 120. They wear well and I never have problems.

When I was doing my research, I found 100psi was the correct pressure, and that too much pressure is very bad on super singles. When hot they seem to be about 120psi

    Recaps are total total garbage.

the only people that say they are not garbage are the people selling them.

you also get money back for a virgin casing right ? And zero for recap casings.
    So you’re out the same
    Money either way.
Pay extra for virgin tires and get that extra money back for the virgin casing when you replace
    Them with new virgin tires
Plus it’s very rare to see a recap wear out the tread .
Most just come apart on the road and damage your truck and leave you sitting for hours.

very little heat extra heat from the exhaust.... the high exhaust temp light is fir the dpf (filter) heat...

No it's not water from the refer...!!
When your driving the wind won't let the water drop down on the tire....

You got 2 bad caps... thats why people done like them....

Most likely you were 5 - 10 psi low.

A lot of people run recaps and have zero issues. But if you run them you need to watch your pressure like a hawk. I worked 10 years at a place and the only virgin tires on the truck were the steer axle and two lift axles, the other 20 tires were caps. But we also had a guy who would check tire pressure every weekend when they pulled the trucks in to service them.

I don’t think I ever managed to wear out the tread on a recap.
Every one I had on my truck came apart.

replaced them with virgin bridgestones or Goodyear’s or Michelin and never blew one again

We got the same life out of the caps as the virgin tires that came on the new trucks. Everything was sent off to Les Schwab to be capped with a unicircle cap. We ran 105k in the mountains and didn’t have stuff flying apart all over. And when the temps got above 90 we all slowed down a little to keep things cooler.

Different business methods for different people, I just disagree with the “all caps are always bed” statements based on my 10 years of experience running them as a company driver.

Place I used to work had 15 livestock trailers, 2 five axle feed trailers plus 3 hoppers along with 9 trucks all running caps. Only problem we ever had was when the pressure gauge went bad and started reading 15 pounds low and didn't realize it at first. Caps are fine in you watch what you are getting and know your tire man

Your research is wrong. 100psi in summer heat is harder on tires than 120psi. Heat from tire flex will kill a tire way way faster than higher psi.

Used to have super singles on a Volvo. All tires were run at 130psi with no issues for over 150k miles and the tires were at about 60% tread. A tpms system was also installed on all the tires.

My current truck on 11r22.5's, all tires are set at 120psi.

SUPPOSEDLY. higer pressure makes the middle of the SS BULGE OUT.

Freeway speed also makes the middle bulge out.

So the middle would wear down faster.
