This is the third time today I passed a Prime doing 55. If that is their max speed there is no way I would put up with that. I would quit immediately. I wouldn't even put in a two week notice.
Did Prime get slowed down to double nickels?

No, I've recently ran across numerous Primes in the 64-65 mph range. Probably just a driver seeking the elusive fuel bonus that may or may not be worth the loss of production ability.

All about the fuel bonus!
And if too many drivers get close to achieving the magic number, Prime will raise the bar!RustyChops41, Brickwall, Woodys and 3 others Thank this. -
Right...
Company max speed 62
Lease max speed 65
O/O ungoverned
Company drivers are paid a fuel mileage bonus and they are required to do 8 mpg average. Counseled if fail to do so; therefore...
They drive slow.
Fuel mileage bonus ranges from 2.4 cents (8 mpg) - 8.2 cents (10.75 mpg).
This is added to their base pay of .42/mile (higher for more experience) plus an additional .05/mile if they opt to drive a single sleeper.Last edited: Apr 27, 2018

Prime passed me the other day at the 5mm on 70 in Ohio eb hammer down .
Had my Cruz set at 62 and when I noticed he had a super single trailer with 3 tires and a wheel bouncing off the pavement I tried to catch him to get his attention ( no radio of course) ...I was at 74 and he was walking away from me so I gave up.
At mm 56 he must have noticed his trailer leaning and pulled over .

LOL...
Production ability?
Leasers take a class to show them driving "balls to the walls" is the reason their expenses are so high and they are not seeing more in net pay!
LOL!stwik, Brickwall and snowlauncher Thank this. -
Prime trucks can go faster, they just get fuel bonuses so some drivers try harder to get the bonus.
-
I used to think that near the end of the quarter. But seeing three Primes doing 55 mph during rush hour and all the drivers looked like 22 year old skinny newbies made me wonder if their newer trucks are getting governed at 55 mphdelta5 Thanks this.

That fuel mileage bonus is paid weekly on the miles they run.
So you're talking $125/week or $500/month if as a lot of them do make 9 mpg.stwik and TruckRunner Thank this.
