How many of those miles are carry over miles from missing payroll cut off for the prior week?

So you were dispatched Tuesday to Tuesday?

    No sitting?

    No delay?

    Hmmmm...

    Ok.

Safety not being a factor. You can make your drop, but you can't make it at 55 now. 65 is hardly an unsafe speed for 6 or 8 hours for someone to make up that time.

It's easy to run 3,800 miles in 7 days with a 65 mph truck and eLogs. I do it regularly. Just need back to back long loads and keep the doors shut.

None, that was miles I did up till about 10am yesterday. However my current load is getting held over for payroll this week because it delivers today but I've been sitting here since 10am yesterday. That was planned when I took it being it was a early Wed delivery and made the bulk of my pay or I wouldn't of taken the load.

I started the week (Tues) in NY, took a 2 stop load to VA. I picked up in VA and went right back to NY. Then did NY to Vegas.. The Vegas run I was fighting for hours the whole way. I stopped early the 1st day to get my self on a early morning schedule (ie get up at 1am-2am shut down around 2pm each day) Did this so I could get a 34 reset at the end.

Once I shut down early the 1st day it gave me enough hours back each night at midnight to run the next day. No matter how I did it I had one day of the trip I was only gonna have 6hrs so that's why I shut down early the 1st day and set myself up to run midnight to midday.

By doing that it got me out here to Vegas by 9am Tues morning with 2:50 on my 70. I deliver wed 800am and have a load out wed night at 8pm from same place I'm dropping. The time diffrence sucks but due to me setting up to be here early am Tues and the late pick up I'll have a 34hr reset and a fresh clock by the time I leave. If not for the 34hr reset I'd only have about 9hrs today and get 5hrs back at midnight. I could make my next load to Denver and then I'd start getting my 10+hr days back, aside from my 1 early day but I'd rather just take the 34 reset.

I didn't ask my dispatch for a late Wed load, once I got out here it worked out that way and is a good paying load. Getting something decent out of Denver might be a problem but will sort that out then.

As for hold ups at shippers/recievers I run my loads/clock so my resets happen while I'm unloading and if possible while loading. This way I can off duty drive out of the reciever to a truck stop to complete my reset and be ready to go with full clock for my next pick up. It doesnt always work out but most time there is a way to do it if you plan properly.

3800 miles is most I've done in one week but I did do back to back weeks of 3700 miles which I wouldn't have thought possible to do it back to back but if I remember right I think I did a 34 reset end of that 2nd one.

For the record though, I do over 600 mile days pretty regularly at 60mph but I do take breaks. I usually do a quick get out and walk or use the restroom every 200 miles or so as well as a 30-45min break. If I'm running a long run, I normally burn 10hrs of drive time but I plan it as a 12hr run so I have 2 hrs of screw off time for fueling, breaks on duty PTI at the end ect..

I'm working on my 3rd straight [2 week] pay period that will be greater than 7,400 miles. Last week (pay period check) was 7,800. When they're back to back for 3 periods, you can dismiss a lot of carryover effect.

But the answer to your next question is "no. I don't go home weekly or even regularly"

Yeah, I don't do home time much but that's by choice due to being single and no kids. I do take 34s fairly regularly just for some time off and I hate getting ####ty filler loads when on low hours. I also normally don't do long loads like this Vegas trip. Normally my loads are under 1,200 miles usually less than that. My average week miles wise is usally 2,700-3200.

I'm ok running like this for now, but once I buy a truck and I'm not paying so much each week I'll be running much differently. I'd like to move somewhere I can run off a load board to plan my own routes.

Can you describe how that is done? How do you drive off duty?
