How long ago did you get your first CDL and in what state? Reason I ask, if you had a CDL issued prior to 2015 most states did not have an auto only restriction and no record of transmission type on the road test report.

This is pure speculation based on many years as a third party CDL examiner and compliance guy but, since you have an M restriction I assume you now have a class A but took a CDL exam some time ago to be a bus driver and recently upgraded to a full class A. If that is the case eventhough you tested in an auto this time, absent a previous restriction they will not add it.

It means you can't drive something like this.

Your CDL A is still good. What happened is the agent at the DMV when they entered the information did not put a check in the box for that restriction. Your good. Stop worrying about it!

Guys, you all need to read what he wrote.
He never said he has a class A. He has a class B license with an M restriction.
He tested in a bus. As I've never seen a bus with a 10K trailer on it I seriously doubt he has a class A.

In a nutshell I suggest to the op to call the DMV back and this time don't lie to them. It sounds like they were wrong in stating you can drive any class B, maybe because they got confused with the auto/manual issue you brought up.

As you've posted though you are restricted to a Class B, bus only license. Auto/manual don't come into play at this point, don't even ask about that. Ask about the M restriction. That's where you are getting

The Op did never say he had an A CDL but I think this is right. Can't get an m restriction with a B CDL. However, I would like to see the OP say what class CDL he has.

The question is, you don't have the restriction on your license but do you know how to drive a manual transmission.

I can't get passed the union hiring him.

Unions hire people to drive trucks?

I don't understand that type of articulation. We see those in the DC Downtown often as they evolved. Some have tried to explain to me to put the middle axle at the curb and the rear section should follow right around meekly. Somehow I cannot bring myself to give that a go. It's a awful lot of bus.

The one other bus that I found to be a great deal of interest would be the People movers at Dulles. I don't know where those are on the gross weight but it's definately up there. whoo doggie.

I got my license a few months back and almost had a panic attack I live in Michigan so they do enhanced licenses(drive to Canada without a passport) and the designation for it is E. Which matches the restriction of E (Manual restricted). And I was already assigned my truck which was a manual. Good thing the license specifically states no restrictions
