I just went for the free grub.

Honestly, I never been there but I wish you luck! I'm looking forward to reading your posts on the experience.

I attended Millington in January 2009. Got my CDL on the first try after three weeks of training. I am very happy with what I learned there. The instructors were pretty friendly and very real world about what life on the road is like. I think it's a much better facility due to the debacle that happened a couple of years back. They have over-corrected so to speak. If he's still there, the night instructor's supervisor (MIKE) was great at teaching backing. I learned a lot from him.

    Lets see.......
I was there January 2010. You begin the morning filling out your medical history for the short form and long form. While you are doing that paperwork a nurse comes around taking BP. They collect your DL and SS cards to make copies and then return them later that day. Depending on the instructor, may ask to see your Birth certificate. Then they do drug testing and physicals. They do it assembly line style, which seemed to be efficient and orderly. You line up for the drug test and proceed from there. It will probably run until lunch time and may even be some who have to finish up after lunch.

Lunch is provided. A catering service pulls up in the parking lot and you stand in line, sign in, and take what you want. Various sandwiches, chips, and soda.

After lunch there is a lot of waiting around. Students get called in to talk to their recruiter or recruiter rep to finish up any last minute paperwork or questions. Others finish up physicals. Everyone else just pretty much hangs out.

I did notice they alternate instructors so that first day may depend on who is in charge. I will try to post more later for the following days.

    Interesting.

    From the Millington admissions requirements:

Yet they give you another one there? Why then do I need to pay for one now, and do they charge you for the one they administer?

Are you going to their school or going in for orientation? If school, yes, you will have to have a new DOT physical even if you just had one the day before. No extra charge for the one from Swift.

    Schmidtrock Thanks this.

Just to clarify, you don't need a physical prior to attending the school.

My instructions said to bring DOT Med Card with me to school. Could be different academies do it differently. I have one that expires in Oct 2010 but I'm going Friday morning to get another one....free through current employer. If Swift gives me another one, I'll have 3. Should be covered!!!!:biggrin_2559:

They tell you to have a physical before you come so if for some reason you do not pass it, it won't be a wasted trip to Millington to get weeded out. Everyone was a little upset that they wasted money getting a physical only to find they had to have another one on the first day at Millington.
