After completing Swift school and getting your cdl, you can apply to any company. The only thing you are obligated to Swift for is the cost of school.

One thing to be aware of, until the school is paid for Swift Driving Academy does not release your diploma so many companies will not hire you right out of school. KLLM told me to do 3 weeks with my mentor and then give them a call and they would hire me. US XPRESS, SCHNEIDER, etc would not hire if you didn't have your diploma released.

I think Central (owned by Swift) requires 2 years OTR before they will hire you.

Central refrigerated has a school in Salt Lake City and will train you to get your cdl. I applied there last year and was told they were only taking students who did not already have a cdl. That was last year. Not sure if anything has changed since then.

My Swift training is not paid for but my DAC shows that I completed their academy. That is all at least one company I know of required. Covenant however required a diploma.

    JustSonny and bigmikectn Thank this.

CRST, unless I decide to just stay home. Sometimes I feel just too darn old to be doing this, LOL. Thanks for asking.

Depends on the instructors to be totally honest. Some were wannabe drill sergeants and others were FANTASTIC. Depends on your attitude as well. If you act like you are super trucker they will put you in your place quickly. They will certainly make sure you are on pace for your skills before they let you move on.
