If this is the case, then you must see that an organized protest by independent truckers is a HUGE step towards fixing many problems.
This week - time off... Next month, maybe more... Next year, if progression is steady with regard to organization, a national movement and a real strike may occur.
You have to start somewhere and regardless of many peoples feelings that nothing will happen, this week is a start.
You can be part of the solution or a bystander who just watches the battle.
Did you haul today? 4/1/08

I'm taking advantage of this downtime to get my aluminum and chrome shined up after a long harsh winter in the Colorado mountains. May take me a week or more.........

Been shutdown since 03/29 yet i watch the news and se no sign of a shutdown. Is this making any sense at all. Stopped in a small truckstop last night to get fuel for the car,and the attendant was excited and he asked me if i had heard that there was going to be a shutdown for 4/1. He did not know i was a driver after i told him that i was a driver he became more excited and thought that was just the coolest thing hoping it would cause some sort of revolution i just laughed and pay for my fuel. I don't know if it made any difference but something is going to have to be done.

This stike may not have enough participants to lower fuel costs in itself, however, as I search the internet and look at all of the posts on this site it is obvious that even the small numbers that started today are being noticed by the country. Even if this does not lower the fuel costs this week we do know that people are noticing and beginning to understand how hard it is becoming for all those who deliver 80+% of what the american people purchase and use in their homes on a daily basis.

As a company driver, yes I did haul today. I had no choice in the matter. It is worth noting that when I reached my receaver they told me the lload is not due 'till 4-7-8 so now I am returning to the shipper with the entire load.
-
Didn't run today either. But I'm getting the Pete ready to go.
Brick, sorry to hear you're down, but you're not out of the game by a long shot.
Hang in there Brick. -
Just to update you guys, I too was looking for a load from so.Fla back to the Tampa area to shut down and the shipper was refusing to load trucks until the strike is over. they said that trucks were loading then shutting down with their loads and not delivering. this shipper had 12 loads on the floor when I pulled out. needless to say I deadheaded home and am parked. Time to clean out the old KW and see what happens.
-
Still parked. I have noticed that the fuel around here has dropped from $4.05 to $3.86 per gallon.
I hope this happens across the country!

Good one, but yet you call me stupid in another post!
