one thing I havent seen mentioned......should be careful with what you talk about on the forums, im sure wieners have some people who watch....and with this situation im sure its easy to figure out which employee is posting...
if they just see someone wanting to leave and just cost them a lot of damage..... -
Until I worked for werner I had no idea the resourses they had to offer rookie drivers, and experienced drivers as well, we have so much support and resources here at werner it ks like truck driving with training wheels..
He could of found this information out before pulling into the pump.. he could of called the shop desk, you can call them 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year, they would of talked him through it.. if he was unsure how to log it he cojld of called the log department, again available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.. if he was concerned with how safe it was he could call the safety department, also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the fuel desk 24/7/365, driver assistance help desk 24/7/365... etc, etc
I am a rookie, I am witn werner because I have support 24/7365....
Others drivers may not have all the support we have.. and because we have it we should be held more accountable then drivers who don't...
There is another thread with rookies asking why some companies wont hire rookies... well here is a good reason..
The good high paying companies want experienced drivers who do not need the amount of support rookies need.. apparently just to even fuel their truck...
It is like the saying, you can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink it... well you can offer a driver a plethora of support at all times but you cant make them use it... you can give them all the tools they need and they will still grab a hammer to pound out a screw...
The thing that really always gets under my skin is rookies not taking responsibility for their actions and always blaming the company, the trainer, their mom, their wife, the truck stop cashier, the weather, the other trucker, the other driver, who ever ...
If rookies and newbies want the training wage and new driver pay to go up.. then this sort of stuff can not be acceptable... and especially for a werner driver.. we have plenty of supoort and resources available to us 24/7/365
As a werner driver, I get tired of all the flack we get... so no, I will not let my fellow werner drivers off the hook... -
Thought about it, valid point. But close to 300 posts later is a little too late

You made alterations to an emissions system. Ask a mod to delete the thread...... If your worried about it.

I dont believe werner is or would fire you for anything posted here.. and in the big picture at least it was not the other way around... putting DEF in the fuel tank and driving...
Werner is a performance based company and have been can be forgiving, especially to rookies... the important thing is always learning all the lessons inherent in the situation...
Now you know you have resourses at your disposal 24 hours a day every day.. all the numbers hou would need are in the fuel book...
Werner has already spent time and money training you... no company wants to throw away an investment...
Now, only you and werner really know what your performance has been... if you have shown yourself to be a hard worker, if you run smart, safe, efficient and on time then you have no worries...
The things that are an automatic dismal are clearly outlined in the handbook.. U Turn will get you fired... -
would be too late at this point to deleat, if they were/have been able to see it then its been done by now im sure, its been a very brutal active thread towards the op. It amazes me how some react though towards him acting like someone cant make a mistake no matter how horrible or minor it might be, I am sure most if not all have made some type of mistake in the past. -
Well, this incident is much like that missing Malaysian plane now; so much talk, hype, and speculation about what happened and what will happen. And just like the missing plane, now it the time to just sit back, wait for the parties involved to go through the motions, and we will find out in the end what happened. Tonakis's repairs should be done in short order. What Werner will do with him will be found out within a few days after that. And I hope that Tonakis will report back to "his community" about the results.
But I tell you this, when I eventually move into a DEF truck, there will definitely be a time or two when I am filling the DEF tank and see the small hole, I will think back and remember the Saga of Tonakis, and ask, "How in the heck???" -
it would be impossible for me to put diesel into the def tank on my cascadia....not sure how one could mix this one up.... entirely separate locations and even then trying to get the diesel into that small nozzle would tell me I'm doing something wrong..
no advice other than try to get it fixed and don't do it again.Dinomite and Balakov100 Thank this. -
Okay, some news:
Freightliner had gotten the approval to start repairs this past Friday. I believe they are working on the truck now, will call later in the afternoon to see how they are progressing. Spoke with my fleet mgr at Werner to update him. So far this is what I have, I will let you guys know if there is anything new later today.pattyj Thanks this.
