Diesel in DEF tank

I drain the tank and put new def, then drained again, and filled up with more . mistake I put 1/2 gallon, but the tank was almost full when I did it .

 

How does this happen when the diesel pump nozzle won't even fit into the DEF hole on the DEF tank? It's way too big to stick in there, the DEF nozzle is much smaller.

Accidentally put 2 gallons of diesel in my def tank..drove 1 mile back to shop.. do you think major damage has occurred?

 

Engine may not have been running long enough for the diesel fuel to reach the DOC in the SCR chamber.
Definitely would have to undo the lines and flush them and the tank out with water. Many times, use distilled water at the end. Blow dry it out.
Let dry over night, refill with DEF. might be okay.
