378 has fiberglass short hood, can be ordered with set back axle.
Giggles the Original and The Challenger Thank this. -
I was listening to some guy jacking his jaw the other day on the CB radio. He was talking bad about the 378's saying they were a lesser quality build. I figured he was full of poo lol, but besides the hood it seems like the 378 sit a little taller?? Im not sure.

Depends how the truck is set up. The short hood angles down towards radiator instead of being flat like extended hood 379, could make it look taller. 377,378,379 all the same, depends on how they spec them out. Insulation package makes big difference.

The cabs are the same, but mounted higher on the 378. That gives the hood a steeper angle even though BBC measurements are the same between the 378 and 379 short hood.

Typically the exhaust on a 378 routes between the frame and cab. 379 under the frame. 378 and 357 are identical but 357 never has sleeper. Experts can't tell the diff between 378 daycab and 357. Starting with 2008 models the 379 long hood was replaced by the 389. The 379 short hood was replaced by the 388. The 378 and 357 were replaced by 367. The 357 was a "vocational" 378 with no sleeper or airide option. And If you want a challenge, try putting a 378 sleepr on a 379 cab!

In looking through truck paper the last few months it has seemed that 378's are more likely to be specd heavier.
