differences between US and Sweden

I´m baaAacK! 7 months and 6 days... *sorry*

A lot has happend... new employer!

I have been taking a short break from truck-driving and has been driving a small lime boat. (picture will come as soon as i have post 10 posts...)

Today i drive a lime truck again but it´s with a different setup (tilt tank) than the truck in the first picture. (picture.. read above...)

And a new truck is ordered from Volvo (the one i´m driving today is from 1998 and is a FH12-420 "tandem" traction but no speed nooo speed..), this time it´s top of the line! Volvo FH16-660... (I´t will arrive in december and will be ready for traffic in early january) i have taken a realy good video clip of me climbing a steep hill with 62 metrictons with the 420hp volvo... i will get back as soon as i have a clip of the 660hp Volvo with same load (62 metric tons) at the same hill!!

Tell me... Our delivery date was moved and moved... AND moved!
Then suddenly, a call from from Volvo. Our truck is ready now but by the way. Our´s i´s not the strongest anymore..!

 

Tell me about the enginge... So sad... Maybe we would still have got the 660 but if Volvo would have told us about the 700 we would at least have had the cohice.. (Spelling?!)

Finally! We have a new truck!

First our old truck... The trailer was bought used and the painting is from the previus owner.. (we have used this truck/trailer combination for a year now... ) This is a Volvo FH12 with 420hp "tandem" = both axel´s driven.. And a manual 12-speed. To weak for hauling 60Mton´s..

New truck! 2009-01-19. This is a FH16 with 660hp and a automatic gearbox and only one driven axle. ( I really would have preffered a manual..)

This picture just make´s me feel sick... Brand new.. not a single scratch or mark on the truck! And then u get to see this!!! =( I hope that they are carefull..

 

Actually, yesterday i passed (not fast but i still went past him ) a DAF XF430 2 axel truck with a 3-axle trailer with german plates i carried 60,5 mtons and his legal weight is 42mtons i think? Up a steap (spelling? :S ) hill ("Skuleberget" in Sweden). I was going 56km/h and He ~50km/h.

I don´t know his actual weight... but his legal weight is 42 and mine is 60.. And i was a little over and probably his also.

What i can tell you fore sure is that are fuel consumption as decreased with the 660 compared to the 420
