Just wondering if anyone knows what areas you change channels when in California or out west. Im not sure when to change to channel 17 or when do most people change over. Cause I still here people talking on 19 when going over donner. But when I was going down I5 outta sac town I was on 17, but heard a guy talking about a certain area south down to LA that people switch to 15 as well. Just curious what the channels are for different areas if anyone know thanks.

Same applies nationwide you want to run on local freight channels or listen to rock haulers you go to their channels.
Nothing special about the left coast, cept maybe LEAVING ! -
For the most part, if you're on I-5 or west of it truckers run 17. I believe this is only the case north of CA Hwy 46. As a rule of thumb if I'm running a trip from LA to Seattle, I'll put the CB on channel 17 once I go over Grapevine.
All points east of I-5 run on 19, which is why you hear traffic on that channel when going over Donner.

Wow, it's been quite a while since I was out there, but it used to be north/south was channel 15 or 17(?) and east/west was channel 19. All up and down the west coast.
The times they are a changin'... -
If your running ca99, most Cali folks use 17.

Ahh, the ignorant change the channel in CA thing,,,,15 south of the 46 on I-5 and the 99,17 all the way up to Canada,go back to 19 as soon as you get on an east-west route,,,,,,no logical reason other than "the way it's always been". I prefer the Mexican channels, they really get pissed when you speak english,,,just a bunch of nonsense IMHO,,,,Maybe they ought to put up signs!
FriedTater Thanks this. -
thanks for the comebacks, been in califronia a lot more lately and nice to know which channels people are on to keep up on the bear reports.

Give me CA. to the East coast and back any day.
Been doing that long enough, i don't let the silly laws of CA. get to me.
My truck is apu equiped. I run 60 most of the time, only to get passed by the bears like i'm sitting still, and yet they don't pull me over. On 3 or more lane roads, i'll run in the the lane that gives me the least amount resistance. Beats the granny lane and having to jump out of the way at on ramps, because 4 wheelers don't know how to yield.
What so great about the east coast?
To crowded, only 1 major north south freeway and it's bumper to bumper. from KeyWest to the top of Maine. Not enough parking, and what there is fills up by noon. TOLLS TOLLS AND MORE TOLLS.
States kicking you out of rest areas after 2 hrs. and or closing rest areas all togehter. Cities / counties telling truck stops, no more than 3 hrs parking time. -
What? I HAVE been gone a long time! 3 hours...do do WHAT?
