Difficulty finding a trucking company that will hire me

Don't rule out CDL-B jobs to get started. Many CDL-A companies will hire you later because you have some CDL experience and will put you through their inhouse CDL-A refresher course with a trainer.

 

May have to take a local job, just to get your foot in the door.

Yeah, that's a tough one.
Try Craigslist and Facebook. Both have trucker pages with jobs listed. These are working out OK for drivers with serious felony convictions.

 

According to the records and the court, you are guilty. Doesn't matter what you are explaining to the company.

 

if you were convicted of that , you're gonna play hell getting a good job . Buy a mower do landscaping or something . Im in an industry full of excons and they would shun you .

 

Probably going to have to go with one of those 1099 companies out of Chicago. At least for a year.

 

You will usually find those in the trucking jobs section of TTR and Craigslist. They will say 1099 and have a Chicago or Illinois area code.
