Yes. And the "built in internal antennas" are generally okay. But kind of hit or miss depending on truck builder, model, and year.

II'd like to know what kind of stations you all are able to pick up when you're able to pick up.

Most of the stuff i was able to receive. When i could receive. Didn't speak english.

Internet tv is picking up speed. And with 5g just around the corner and the expansion of rural internet. It'll be a real interesting year for tv, internet, and cell phones. With any luck. You all won't be needing antenna reception anymore. You can watch tv over the internet. Verizon is planning to start their own service. One more addition to the services already available. And since their exclusive contract with the nfl for mobile games is about over. They'll be wanting to find another revenue source.

There is no such thing as a digital antenna. TV station frequencies (what an antenna would care about) have not changed a bit, the FORMAT has.

So channel 5 is still channel 5. That means regular old antennas from 40 years go will work just fine. You just need a newer TV or digital converter box to be able to watch that channel.

As far as what do I get, I normally get ABC NBC CBS, FOX, Escape, Grit, PBS sometimes, lots of stuff. The most channels I ever got I think was around Indianapolis. My TV showed 103 channels. The least I ever got was 0 and I was in a real city of like 30,000 people. Weird.

I find the built in antenna on my truck to be as good as any rabbit ears I own. I brought two different ones that worked well at my house and I can't pick up as good as the built in one on the Freightliner. However, the built in CB antenna has too much SWR to use.

Digital tv signals are broadcast on the UHF frequency. There isn't very much special about digital antennas. You are mostly paying for hype and plastic.

Any antenna desinged to receive channels 14 and higher will work.

My t680 has a coax outlet behind the tv mount. I put a short cable from tv to that and presto good antenna tv in many (most) locations I go.

Not sure where you got that from but digital channels go below 14 so they aren't UHF only. They are VHF and UHF.

Over 90% are on the UHF. Just because a station is on a channel lower than 14 doesn't mean it isn't on the UHF band.

"The old analog TV channels were the same as their broadcast Radio Frequency (RF)channel, one network per channel. Digital TVcan broadcast multiple channels (in 1 RF channel) and uses 2 types of channels, the TV channel (also called Virtual channel) displayed on the television, and the broadcast RF channel. A stations's TV channel may or may not be the same as it's RF channel. Most analog stations changed their RF channel (and most VHF stations moved to UHF) for DTv, but were allowed to keep their old analog channel identification as their TV or Virtualchannel. Stations that signed-on the air after the transition to digital usually have the same TV and RF channel."

But they aren't all UHF. Like I said, there are some VHF too. You said all DTV was UHF and your own link proved you wrong.

If that is what it takes to make you feel special, you can have the 10%. If you read my post,I never said ALL. I said that DTV signals are broadcast on UFH. Over 90% are.

It's not about feeling special, it's about putting out correct information. Since you decided to throw in your two cents and you were wrong and people are actually thanking your wrong posts, I wanted to correct you.

    You said:

You didn't say MOST are broadcast on UHF. I was correct in saying that they are both VHF and UHF. When confronted about it, you said 90% were. Well, not sure where you pulled that number out of your ### from but they are both UHF and VHF just like the old analog signals so the same antennas will work.

Why not just admit you were wrong? How hard is that to do? I'm a licensed HAM radio operator and have been for over 10 years. I can legally transmit up to 1500 watts. I've had to take classes and study up on radios, signals, electricity, etc. I've had to take several FCC tests. There ain't much I know a lot about, but this is one of them. I've had men 3 times my age come to me for advice and help with antenna installations, etc. I'm the only driver at my company that has the equipment in his truck to inspect, repair and tune antennas. I don't charge for it either. Drivers come to me for help.
