That are on the side of a trailer must be seen from the cab by the driver. Correct?

I’ve pulled quite a few trailers that I couldn’t see them. On the pneumatics I pulled the center turn signals were back between the hoppers and not visible at all from the cab.

They are not meant for the driver to see but for the other vehicles around the truck

pulled dry vans where they tucked under the bed a bit.

only at night could you tell they were working.

I liked the ones that bulged out and you could see them from the front or rear.

I had Googled it earlier and found what apparently was an older FMC requirement. Pulled out my book and couldn't find it.

I've never heard of such a thing and one of my flats has them but I can't see them from the cab.

    D.Tibbitt and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Back in 1996 it looked to be the law. See Footnote #4. The FMC has since removed that requirement.

Footnote 4 is for rear side marker lights, doesn’t say anything about a mid trailer turn signal.

When our trucks go through inspections at the scales the drivers never get asked if they can see the middle blinker so my answer would be no.
As fussy as California is I'm sure we would have been cited for it by now if it was required.

If it’s OEM, don’t worry about it.
