Touchè. However, I'd be willing to bet that same struggling person would highly appreciate if someone helped out his/her family when in need as well. The time for excuses needs to stop. It's been going on for far too long.

Most states have good samaritan laws, so that as long as you're trying in good faith to help, you can't be sued. Only in cases of extreme negligence can you be held liable...but the "injured party" usually needs to prove that you acted recklessly.

This reminds me of the Seinfeld series finale when they all went to jail for filming the fat guy getting robbed and not helping.

I agree with most said, but disagree that you guys aim it at truck drivers.
It is society as a whole that has changed.
I also believe that with all the warning stickers, rules, regulations, laws, safty this and that, easy food supply, heat and electric for everyone, that gene pool no longer self cleans.

Nobody getting paid to be a fireman out there. If you stopped to help everyone, you'd never get anywhere.

I was on a full public metro bus on the highway that connects the downtown to the suburbs while a car spun out in front of us, hit the shoulder and it flipped when it when down in the ditch. The bus driver stops in the bus lane adjacent to the wreck on a busy highway. Meanwhile cars pulled in front of the bus to help and trapped us there. The bus driver refused to let anyone out to help while she asks if anyone has called for help. Thank god emergency and police got there quickly to direct traffic around us. I thought a semi was going to slam into us !
