Disconnecting Transmission cooler on Eaton 18spd

    Pick up a heavy duty rated air/oil then build a mini manifold in the hot side to hold a 220 degree switch (such as horton #rf993626) and use it to control power through a relay to an electric cooling fan mounted to the cooler.
    This can be mounted to protect from road and any other debris.

    My rtlo 18 cooler pumps trans fluid through it not antifreeze.
    For those wandering about trans temp, here is what Eaton says and mines always spot on

    More then half the time people dont even need coolers. If you gross under 105,000 lbs then not really needed.

    I run 105,500 in the northwest so I want the cooler but want the piece of mind not having the chance of coolant in the trans.

    I understand and agree with you but Eaton requires them for all big trucks and especially warranty. Any truck with over 400hp

    Throw a air to oil cooler on it then. They are low risk. Easy to install and work ok.

    I like my tranny heat exchanger (K3898 coolant style) because it warms the tranny quickly when its winter and super cold in single digits and lower.
