Diesel's pre electronic control would require more fuel at 130,000 than at 80,000 thus it would smoke heavier. Tipping off the bears, also your tires would show the extra weight. Brakes too for that matter.

None of this holier than thou crap for me, I have a considerable amount of farm work, when you add it all up. The crop has to come in, period. It has nothing to do with disregarding anything, its a fact of life of farming. Loose the crop the combines are down, thats it your broke and out of business. Look they don't run high speed cross country this way they run to the evevator or mill, thats it.

There are far more dangerous things on this highway. Like sleeping drivers. Very few accident are attributed to weight.

My axle weight legal would be 92,500, but DOT says it's 80,000 so its 80,000 that does not make the 92,500 unsafe only illegal. The tractor and trailers I pull are rated for way more than legal, and when we are doing mine work we load them to 92,500 with no problems. MSHA has no problems, but if we were to get caught crossing or using a public roadway they would hang us.

4 Miles top speed I got up to was 30 MPH. I also had a triple axle grain wagon with a 51K axle rating. Truck had a 46K walking Beam rear and a 14K front suspension. I was only 19K over the rated weight for the Truck. Yes I was blowing Black however my 73 International smoked anyways. Brakes were fine tires considering I had 22 H rated instead of G rated were each one was rated for 7K Lbs loading I was fine there. See it was knowing what the Truck could haul also when the Boss is the Highway Commish and Combine operator is the Chief of Police for the town the Elevator was in I think I was fine.

You still can try to justify it, but I believe you were wrong and a danger to anyone else on the road. I am glad you no longer drive.

I do not care what excuse you use.

Just because you run everything by the book doesn't make you a better driver! It makes you a more legal driver, but doesn't mean your not wreckless?

I'll go one step futher and say heavy haulers, legal or not, are probably a more safe driver than by the book guys!

How heavy do you think a set of loaded grain hoppers coming out of a wheat field are? I don't think I ever scaled at less than 85k at the elevator and was regularly up over 90k. Its not like these loads travel any real distance and when they did we would dump the extra product at the grading station. Tomatoes was the same thing. Grab a set and run it to the cannery down the road. And we legally worked over 100 hours a week under the CA Agricultural HOS rules. You can wag your finger all you want but you're still gonna eat the food.

So because you haul an agricultural product you are immune from the effects of fatigue and the basic laws of physics don't apply to you and therefore should be allowed to do whatever the hell you want with no regard to safety or even common sense???
    Yeah. That's the ticket!!!

Wake up driver! You are just a pawn in this giant game. The company will sacrifice you and your career in a second to increase their, not yours, profit margin!
We have to learn a new word and incorporate it into our daily vocabulary and use it often. The word is "NO!". I will not run overweight! I will Not run over hours! I will not drive unsafe equipment!
Why should we work harder, faster, or longer to make the same money? ?? Work smart drivers, not hard!!!

Quit with the conspiracy BS. Look up the California Agriculture HOS. 112 hours/8 days, 16 on duty, 12 driving, 8 off. If you are going over hours with these rules something is really wrong. As far as the weight, there is nothing you can do about it untill you get it scaled. The scale is where you are delivering. You can probably see the place you are delivering to from the field you loaded out of. Its no different than grabbing a preloaded trailer at a shipper and taking it to a CAT scale and finding it to be over. What would you do then? Would you take it back to the shipper, knowing its heavy, or would you call the DOT? As far as unsafe equipment, red tag it and let the company deal with it. This is the kind of work I started out doing and you know what? I lived and you lived and I'm quite sure you ate too.

They get caught all of the time in my area.

Most are then put out of service as well for other defects.
