Let me first apologize about the long post here. Just finally finished my 275 hours of training with xxxxxx (probably shouldn't mention the company's name but they have blue trucks and trailers and are one of the larger companies out there). It's been more like 275 hours of hell and was the longest 275 hours of my life. The first 2 trainers I had were great. No problems, both of the guys I got along with great and had a pretty good time except for the lack of sleep. Then I decided to take a week of home time and ended up getting a new trainer. It still blows my mind that a company would have such a wretched, vile, disgusting person representing their company and responsible for training new drivers. This shell of person, I guess you could call him, actually went 11 days at one point without taking a shower or even changing his clothes! Can you imagine the smell inside the truck? I thought I was going to throw up every time I got inside. And to top it off, he was probably the laziest person in the world. I can see having to piss in the gatorade bottle if you are on the road and there is no where to stop and you really have to go. Of course, you get rid of the bottle at the next stop and everything is ok. But when you are stopped at a truck stop, and you are too #### lazy to put your shoes on and walk 60 seconds to the bathroom is unacceptable. What's even worse, is that he collected 8 bottles at one point and left them all laying out around the floor next to his bed. It took the man another 4 days to throw them away. What was also great was that he liked to chain smoke with all the windows up, laying in his bed, with me in the top bunk trying to sleep. Maybe this company wouldn't have such a problem with keeping new students it they put a little more effort into their training programs? Perhaps do some random inspections and be a little more selective on who they have as trainers. However, you're not just a # at this company. You are more of a symbol, that symbol is a $. Oh well, sorry about the long post, I guess I just needed to vent a little bit. Just glad it's finally over and I can get out on my own.
Disgusting trainer

theyve been mentioned b4...dont think you would be the 1st...yeah its a shame to be that lazy and disgusting

People like that are unacceptable. I am a student right now, but I will not accept that. My pride cannot be bought with a paycheck. I was in the military and still managed to keep myself clean, even when shower facilities in Iraq were not available for weeks at a time. Laziness is something that I have noticed in the trucking field. It seems to be growing. I will not accept this as I am not a lazy man. I do what has to be done. I am not opposed to physical exertion and I will not shy away from it.
I am sorry you had to endure that trash. Since I will likely be dealing with the same company I hope I don't have to give up my chance to get away from a dirtbag like that.tinytim Thanks this. -
Normally, I would have just walked away from a situation like this but, being that I was so close to being done with the training I just decided to endure the pain and put up with it.

If that would of happpen to me,I would of got off that truck and ask for another trainer.Thats sick to leave your body waste laying around like that.
Hope that trainer doesnt train no more.

And I hate to say it but I can smell you from TX. Take a couple more baths. That skunk is hard to get off.
Good luck out on you own. I'm sure you will do great. -
I definitely wasn't the smelly one out there. In fact, I managed to shower just about every day. The trainer wasn't showering for a lack of opportunities, I think he just enjoyed living in his own filth. You should of seen what his bed looked like!! No sheets, scattered cookie crumbs all over it, some nasty unidentifiable stains, and god knows what else. I actually slept in the top bunk while he was driving just to avoid having to sleep in that cesspool.

Is there a way to report him to the training dept or something?
-
I'm sure there is but will it really accomplish anything? As long as the loads get to where they need to go and they are there on time, who cares about what the conditions of the truck and the trainer are in?
-
I would have to assume that they have many folks lined up waiting for the chance to become trainers?
